The real reason Meadowhall is given top priority for flood defence is the large business concerns that have a presence there in around the shopping centre. Its not a densley populated area down in the valley. Any local population that is there isn't wealthy.

When it comes to a choice between large retailers and houses down in the lower reaches of the Don, there's only going to be one winner.

The point is, it shouldn't have been a choice. The obsession with Austerity and a lack of interest in the North is what made it one.

Evacuating houses in Retford, it looks like they are expecting some heavy flooding there.

Edit: judging by the photos,  it looks like they are fairly new houses that have been flooded in Retford. Doh!

Edit edit: modern houses flooded in Catcliffe too.
