Sutton train warning?
« on January 21, 2024, 09:06:48 am by adamtherover »
I've posted this in off topic but think it needs a wider audience,  Thameslink and south western are the only lines that go to west Sutton, they are now no longer selling tickets for the 3rd.feb, neither is Trainline app. I think they are now both on strike, so anyone getting the train down, be aware..

Adam thanks for posting that in off topic, it made me replan the day. Originally was going to park at High Barnet and get a tube then jump on Thameslink. As a back up I’ve booked parking near Sutton’s ground too.
Although it doesn’t mention industrial action on Thameslink there are (as you state) no tickets on sale

It looks like you can get to the main Sutton station which is bit further away.

Good spot, Sutton seems to be about a mile away...

The train strikes are being held on different days and different regions
3rd of Feb: Avanti West Coast, East Midlands Railway, West Midlands Trains.
2nd of Feb: LNER.
30th of Jan: GTR Thameslink, South Western Railway

Thanks Adam. I’m down there with Mrs LR for this one. I’ll replan things again.

Vauxhall to Sutton seems to be the quickest train route, u.can go from st. Pancreas but its slower and more expensive..

There are engineering works on Thameslink on 3 and 4 February so no services to or from Sutton.

If you are coming from Kings Cross then one option is the Victoria Line to Victoria, then get the Southern service from Victoria direct to Sutton. Whole journey should take less than an hour.

I took the Northern line to Morden and then the bus (number 80 i think), short walk through a park.
Was perfectly fine.

We are heading to Victoria when we get in to London, think we are heading to Clapham Junction for a couple before then going onto Sutton.

this seems to be a great option, and massivly cheaper than using the overground!!!

Certainly cheaper than the taxi my mate made me take on the way back into London...
