Performance

I don’t think we’ve seen a performance like that since the Saunders era.
Not pretty, very little football but physical all over the pitch and created a number of good chances
Excellent

Agree, loved the physicality of our side tonight. Defence seemed stronger too. We were much better in the seconded half. Should have won it. The Wood offside must have been very marginal

Can't argue with that matey.
Everyone put a shift in and we got a good point against a very physical knock it long team.
I would have taken a draw at the start but ended up slightly disappointed.

Disappointed - me too.

Would have taken a point too but against a team that niggled and fouled and yes cheated throughout I would have loved to stuck it to them and the disappointment came because we didnt largely as a result of god good chances not taken

However great performance , the Table looks better and we maybe saved the goal for Grimsby on Saturday COYR

That is a standpoint when we come against similar again. It will start to go around, Rovers can’t be bullied. We’ve been a soft touch for too long.

We should have won by 2 clear goals. Two chances for Adelakun and the Wood goal wrongly chalked off.

A great performance by the lads tonight, I was proud of them. We deserved to win but that’s a good point away from home.

I thought Anderson was excellent tonight,  I bet Smith was glad to see the back of him!

Well done to the whole team.

Anderson has still got it in him going by tonight’s game. He deserves praise, he’s had a lot of criticism. Not much will get by Wood and him with the experience they have. Just put pace around them.

Agree with all the above, loved that battling performance, big Tom getting under Smith's skin summed it up.
Pity Adelakun couldn't have put it to bed, & surely Woody did? Can't believe Ironside put the free header wide either.
Well done lads, let's have it on Saturday.

I think we’re safe, not mathematically obviously, but we seem to have finally figured out what we need to do to grind out points. Feel much more comfortable than I did a few games ago.

We started tentatively and seemingly lacking in confidence against a team on a roll, but having got through the initial stages, sheer effort and application turned into a more fluid performance. We really did deserve a win in the end. So we have proved we can compete away from home against at least a confident moderately good side which augurs well. In some ways Adelakun looks more effective than Faal who used to meander seemingly aimlessly, whereas his "replacement" is direct.

I thought that we grew into the game and really could and should have won it in the last 30 minutes. The fans or most also generally stayed with the team all through.
There was a fat lad behind the goal telling Anderson in colourful language that he was rubbish and not fit to lace the lads boots. This was at 0-0. It does make you wonder at some people’s mentality.
Anderson was picked for his height and strength and really worked hard to contain Smith who probably won’t have a harder game all season. I had to laugh at the fans singing about Smith’s bald patch. He had a face like a slapped ar** all night.

Anderson did well last night, you could tell he relished the battle with smith.
I think that's where his talents lie, in man marking big units.

Tom also had a few verbals with him once or twice as well. He really looked up for anything that Smith could and did throw at him.

It wasn’t a perfect performance but it was the most enjoyable for a hell of a longtime. Every player appeared up for it and it’s the most physical we’ve been too

Any ‘purposeful handshakes’ that you noticed at the end of the game idler?

Not the prettiest last night, but if we can find that level of steel a bit more often, it's a start.

Oh and Craig was quite superb.

I never noticed any but Smith looked a bit subdued and crestfallen to me. He probably expected a totally different game after the first meeting.

Last night was the big Tom we remember, he really relished the challenge and had the better of him all the game.
He was in his face, talking to him constantly.
Blocked every time he tried to move(you can't call it making runs).
He basically had the better of Smith and wound him up.
Well done Tom.

Yeah, he soon gave up on that, didn't he?

Tilt and the other CB were a proper pair of bruisers.

I did notice that the Salford defenders acted like American Football players when a ball was played behind them and one of ours was trying to run after it.
They just ran into the path of our player and blocked the runner from going past.
It was a regular feature, particularly in the second half.

Where has it been .. we’ve looked far from competitve all season and if we’d put performances like this in , things wouldn’t be  looking  so dire come the end of the season .

This has been missing from our game for much of the season. Particularly in midfield where it’s often been a case of ‘after you Claude’ as the opposition has surged through us. Hopefully, the penny’s dropped.
