Has joined Kidderminster Harriers , a good player but could have been even better with a bit more guidance and control

Ultimately it’s down to aptitude & mental strength.

Kevin Keegan wasn’t a ‘natural’ but he knew his strengths & worked hard everyday to improve plus he had the attain my first paragraph in abundance.

JET fell well short in those areas.

I’m not sure a comparison with Keegan is entirely appropriate. Could JET really have reached his level and of course KK had the Liverpool spirit and work ethic, driven hard by the uncompromising Bill Shankley?

JET had numerous clubs, often with teams struggling to reestablish themselves with frequent turnovers of managers (eg Ipswich and QPR) with several loans in between. In fact, only with Rovers and Bristol City did he establish himself and possibly because he was guided by 2 managers who had settled terms, SOD here and Cotterill at Bristol City.

Had we possessed the financial resources to keep him here who knows how he might have developed? In fact I was amazed to see that Wiki lists only 11 games for us, but the impression he made (with me anyway) was so significant over those games, possibly the best performance was one when we beat Bristol City at Ashton Gate, such an exciting player.

I wonder how many youngsters join big PL clubs like Arsenal in his case and wither away, when if they’d set their sights a little lower they would find their natural level and thrive there?

I would have taken him on trial with us, nothing to lose. The guy has quality just getting it out of him regularly.

He's a luxury player and we don't have the leeway to be able to carry a player like him for three-quarters of each match.

You would have taken enough players on trial to fill the Crown Hotel 35 times over!

Looking at the size of JET, I would imagine his minimal work rate is now non-existent.

Todd Miller has joined him there also.
