John Marquis
« on April 01, 2024, 09:24:24 pm by Chris Black come back »
Out of contract this summer. Not been amazing form in the five seasons since he left us. His current gig at Bristol Rovers has seen him make more appearances as a sub (39) than a starter (30). All his games since leaving us have been in League One:

2023/24 - 4 in 34 league appearances
2022/23 - 9 in 36 league appearances
2021/22 - 9 in 39 league appearances
2020/21 - 16 in 41 league appearances
2019/20 - 8 in 33 league appearances

Excellent, been at least a week since we've had a thread on an ex-player for no reason whatsoever

I’ll leave that one to Grant.

John would suit our forward play. Runs all day and gets kicked from pillar to post. Fits right in!

Grant re-signed Lawlor so I definitely wouldn't rule out us being interested in JM. Him Miller and Ironside in L2 wouldn't be too bad at all I guess but we should be looking at a different profile of player imo. TLT and Hakeeb are the ones to push the boat out for.

He’d want a fair old wage for this level and he wouldn’t be as good as last time.

Get Biamou instead I say.

Agree, if he's available & affordable get him signed.

Wasn’t he a free agent when we signed him, so I guess he is available?

Biamou, I mean..

His role in a team is surely close enough to that of Ironside to mean they would compete for one place. And he is a year older than Ironside. To be frank, I think he was on the wane when he left. I think he peaked with us. We cannot ignore the fact that he is not getting regular games at Bristol Rovers nor did he at Portsmouth.

It all suggests that he is not really what we need to achieve our current ambitions.

Depending what other offers he gets of course.

Is it really 5 seasons since Marquis left?WOW,not one for a return for me,loved him when he was with us,but maturing now, would be great as cover or from bench, but if we get forwards it should be to improve what we already have or replace any lost players be it leaving or injured.
