The PA system needs replacing, but I believe the club looked into this recently and were quoted in the region of 500k. Lot of money for some speakers

Can’t be half a million surely.

No, let the PA break  my pet annoyance is bloke's screaming down the PA that Donny are playing Crewe in a play off. Yes mate I know, I don't need it shouting.  Spoils any atmosphere as players walk out :coat:

If anything give matey in the south stand the microphone ??????

Speaking of atmosphere and flags etc. Carrow Road looking and sounding fantastic pre kick off

What I notice was most of the crowd wearing their colours even if it was just a yellow shirt and the few others wearing white. It would be great if all or most wore our colours and again even if it’s just a red t-shirt if not got a Donny Rovers shirt.

That’s my understanding for a new system.

The wide surround to the pitch has an impact on the accoustics in the same way as it does at the West Ham ground (the London Stadium) with its athletics track. And these characteristics are another factor in dissipating the sound. But you would not want to trade what we’ve got for something similar to Luton Town’s shambolic cramped accommodation. We are very fortunate to have our stadium.

It is after all the same for both teams. What can be generated from  the South stand is only a third of the potential of the rest. In some ways there might be a case for reducing the price differential between the North stand and the East and West stands so that there is more noise close to the Away support. Visually the image of empty seats in the West stand on TV makes us look poorly supported.

I think you mean east stand

It’s the one the TV cameras face. Living over 200 miles away I get there less frequently now and the journey is becoming increasingly challenging and I’ve never quite fixed the North, South, East and West of it into my head.

I'd say some games there is less than 1000 in the east stand.

Given you can get a full music festival standard PA system for around £50k I suspect a rogue zero has crept in to that estimate somewhere.

It doesn’t need a full new PA system to my knowledge, just speakers with more power than what we have, the sound guy had them cranked at the Crewe game (trying to hear over the crowd)and it was too much for them with audible distortion.

No it does. We’ve been looking at this for a number of years and improvements to a simple basic system can only achieve so much. To get any better it needs a complete overhaul.

McCann is more than capable of hammering this league and getting us in to League One again. That’s a great result for us to be back in there again and competing.

Unless we have some serious external investment, McCann couldn’t if he swapped out Cliff for Ancelotti and had Pep washing bibs get us into the Championship. There is huge external investment largely US private equity piling now into clubs in League One, as an early entry into a tilt at entering the Premier League. We’ve got little hope of competing against that I’m afraid. Times have changed.

Top half League One competing with likes of Lincoln, Oxford and Peterborough is where we should be aiming. That’s a good result for us.

League Two is a terrible league. We need to get out of here as quickly as possible.

Oxford and Peterborough got to the play offs, so I would be happy to be competing with them..

Where we would need the big investment IMHO is if we wanted to be competitive in the Championship top half..

Should we get there obviously..

I wonder if it’s worth asking a specialist for advice on how we could improve the acoustics in the stadium to get a rough idea of the kind of investment that would be needed.

The best way to do that would be to the East and West stand singing as loudly as the South stand. That’s the issue.

The West Stand is full of old folk who never sing. That's just what it is.

We've done all our singing years ago Billy, through the bad times and the good..... as the song goes
If you want to sing and scream and clap that's OK with me but just don't expect me to join in

I do believe BB and Wolfie go in the West Stand.

Me, still being a youngish guy, am a South Stand singer.

Ahem.....
