Mickey Walker
« on August 17, 2024, 05:06:07 pm by Nudga »
Jesus christ radio Sheffield need to get him off the airwaves.

Had to turn it off at half time because of the absolute pish coming out of his mouth.
If I had a quid for every time he says "Woody the war horse".

And then waffling on about it looking like Wolves vs Man City, which he thought was a coincidence as man city were beating wolves 1 nil ,same scoreline as rovers at the time.

Mickey love, Wolves are getting beat by arsenal and city play Chelsea tomorrow.

He doesn't offer anything insightful or "expert" summarising.

GET HIM OFF!!

Only had the pleasure of his commentary in the second half, was waiting for him to call Richard Wood; Woody Warhorse, as a little consolation but he couldn’t even throw that one in today!

Don't worry, he got it in a couple of times in the first half.

Just can't listen to him, utterly cringeworthy.

Really not sure why they have stuck with him for a while now. He’s dreadful. They must be able to attract AN Other Rovers related pundit surely??

I always found him very negative about us in the past to the point I'd turn off after listening to him for half hour. I think he's a bit bitter about something regarding rovers. I'm not sure but as the sides pundit I expect positive response. All he does is big up the other team.

I had the pleasure of him sat next to me commenting in a bar in Barcelona when Barnsley were promoted in the playoff's I think in 2006. Decent enough chap, and read the game well.

Mickey was a big part of the success of the club coming out of the conference winning Div 3 and through into league 2(as it was). I remember my kids had a visit to the training ground to meet the players. Dave Penny had been sacked the day before and we thought it would be cancelled. But no, Mickey got in touch to say bring them. He hosted the visit and was brilliant. So i always remember him well. However I appreciate that was some time ago and hes older now and his views(and delivery) are probably not as relevant or inciteful in todays world.

Why have somebody on who likes running down the club that he claims to support. Maybe R.Sheffield like it that way as they love to run down Rovers themselves.

I went to see the reserves the day Penney was sacked (before it was announced) and Mickey was in the dugout for the Ressies (which wasn't the case at the time, it was Penney or Mickey Lewis).

I said to MW that it was nice to see him back in the dugout, will he be there on Saturday. He said "yeah looks that way"...
Went home and thought nothing of it, until the news of Penney leaving dropped and MW taking the interim role.

Life before social media hey...

There was me wondering whether R.Sheffield is the other half of L.Sheffield Barmby

MW is still a big fan of the Rovers.

I had to laugh listening to Brentford game. I had invite for your cousins wife's 60th party

So I was listening on Car radio in Wheatley Hall Road near Greggs

Things were going well but tense of course when they got that Pen

MW said straight out " don't worry don't worry.... Sulli will save it "

I looked at the Radio and said " no he f****** wont"

Eventually pandemonium broke out and being radio I had no.idea for ages what had happened

We scored of course but before that MW managed to say "told you Sulli would save it". It wasn't till I saw the replay and was watching for a wonder save that I realised he had conned me but I think.of that every time I see it with Sulli in bottom.corner and ball heading diagonally opposite to top corner ( or bar tbh )

Good tale there Wolfie.
Had MW been on a screen though I think his tongue would have been firmly in his cheek.
