Morecambe aren't a Premier League team, yes quality did contribute 2nd half but we were chasing shadows after 60mins. Grant was happy with the performance, that'll do for me

A very good friend of mine, and a lifelong Toffee sent me this after the game....

Well played Donny, made a game of it for over 60 mins. I think we were flattered by the scoreline. You had chances early on to give us a real scare. It bodes well for your league push.

I got a similar message from a mate in Liverpool who rarely misses an Everton home game. He was very complimentary about the team and the fans. He has always had a soft spot for Rovers since they signed Ian Snodin. We have met up at Rovers away games over the years. He went to a few in Lancashire in the Conference years. He usually goes to Tranmere when we play there.

Second goal is shocking from Lawlor

Lawlor wasn't at fault for any of the goals.  What you saw was the difference in class when it comes to finishing. The quality of the strikes, the placement and the speed of execution, which means the keeper can't get set and anticipate the shot.

At that level they make it look easy but as Senior and Sbarra's efforts show, there's such a difference in the quality of execution.  The top players don't take an extra touch to steady themselves, most moves are one touch, either pass or shoot.

Pickford would have just picked their second goal up

Perhaps Padge, but he also picks up around £150,000 a week.
Lawlor doesn’t do that either.
