Why do we have EVERYONE in our box?! It is so frustrating.

Inviting pressure

Get in each others way (hence the first goal)

No outlet so when we clear we just give the ball back

The corner following their goal Cheltenhma had 6 players in our box, we had 11?!?! We even stood and looked at the man gone short and also the man just outside box.

Most teams defend corners that way these days. No value leaving one isolated man 50 yards from everyone else is there.

No they don't

The value in leaving someone upfront is it pulls one or two of their men out the box and occupies them, whilst giving us a chance on the break even more so given TSLs distribution

Leaving Hurst to deal with a 2 on 1 from a short corner on his own is probably not the greatest idea if we're being honest.

As I said on another thread, Hurst didn’t go out to defend the two players on the corner routines did he.
He (probably under instruction) stayed in the box and gave the two players as much time and room as they wanted.
The crowd were shouting for him to go out there but he didn’t go.
The first goal came about after the second corner.
The same thing has happened in the last few home games.

Agree we should leave one or two upfield and so commit some opposition players to defend if we clear it quickly either direct from a header or clearance or keeper catching and punting it upfield

Ideally the 2 upfield should be fast as hell and not the tallest players either so a quick break possible whilst NOT losing height for the corner or set piece

There wasn’t enough time to chat about too many things in the minutes we spoke but it was good having the talk.
