Mcann got that wrong
« on February 06, 2025, 10:04:21 pm by TonySoprano »
Simple as really.

We pressed them far too high, and we were gaping wide open at the back.

Absolutely laughable how much space we gave that dobra to run with the ball.

We were on top early doors & were far better , unfortunately we got done on the counter and like you say were far too open for the majority of the game after that.

First half was as good as we played all season but thru had two attacks and scored 2 goals
Just one of those nights
But performances have improved over the last few weeks
Although I’d much rather be shite and win

We have got to lose the odd one! Hopefully we can get another winning streak going again!

The thing that frustrated me tonight was having our subs stripped and waiting 6 or 7 minutes with numerous breaks in play before getting them on

We are toothless anyway we don’t have a centre forward who can keep the ball , too many youth type players who don’t know how to measure a game and allow passes to go astray or unchallenged or not tracking the runners off the ball . It’s going to be nail biting for no on …

We were really unfortunate to be 2-0 down. Teddy had a brain fart for the first goal. At 2-1 it looked game on. Certainly didn’t deserve to lose by 3 goals.

Chesterfield commentators were saying they'd played better than tonight and lost games. Gives an indication to the levels of inconsistentcy in the Division

Cook made a tweak to how Chesterfield were set up in the second half and that changed the game, McCann didn’t react to it.

Yeah, despite our fairly good first half showing, Cook has got one over McCann on two occasions this season. We didn't learn from the lessons in the first half and within ten minutes of the re-start the game has gone. Playing a high defensive line played into their hands and the full backs couldn't deal with the pace from the wings. They were absolutely clinical as well.

We were very predictable, big long diagonal ball for Molly to hopefully get on the end of every time.

Yes, Chesterfield did the double on us this season, but at the end of the day, I would rather be where we are in the table than where they are. We must be doing something better than them over all.

I haven’t seen a centre forward in this division who keeps the ball better than Joe Ironside.

Chesterfield have our number. That much is clear.

Barrow probably think the same about us at the minute!

It's not very often the whole back five in this team are going to go missing like that. I hope not anyway!

Full backs may as well have been sat in the stands. Their striker just absolutely bullied McGrath and Olowu. Keeper had a couple of clangers but he's a league two keeper - and the keeper mistakes are not keeper mistakes alone. First one Sterry should be doing better before it even gets there. Second one, was just a clusterf**k of defending all over.

On another day that's 8-8. We went for it and it didn't work. It happens. If we win next week last night is forgotten. I'd rather be Forest than Burnley at the minute.

Talking of teams having another team's number....Let's forget it and go take it out on Grimsby.

Noticed mcann went shit or bust with the subs, and the scoreline got worse.
Sometimes it pays off (barrow ?) . Some times it gets worse.

There's games to go for it, and there's games to shut up shop, and I think yesterday was the latter.

We got greatly punished for the mistakes and yes, there was an element of immaturity in our play (some from the more mature of our players) but, it's another good leaning curve. The shoeing we got from Stockport last season didn't do us much harm in the long run.

Any doom and gloom merchants that start moaning about everything need a reality check.

We made far too many mistakes or errors which cost us the game as McCann said, TSL slipped for the first goal and might have saved it had it not happened, both fullbacks due to the way we play were out of position and the 3rd goal showed that with Maxwell nowhere to be seen and McGrath having to cover. McGrath slipping for the 5th too.

It was just one of those days and games where everything went wrong that could go wrong and the team as a whole shouldn't be slated, im sure it will just be a one off. Remember a poor Fleetwood team battering Walsall at the Bescot 6-2? It happens...
