Stadium ring road moan
« on April 02, 2025, 08:07:30 am by Filo »
I thought that traffic on the ring road was prohibited an hour before kick off and for up to an hour after full time? Last night cars were still going round the ring road 20 mins before kick off with people everywhere, and at Full time there was vehicles on the road as well, has this policy been dropped?

Don't know about pre kick off but I thought it was 10 minutes after the final whistle?

Filo, there are different age group academy players arriving for training, and exiting about kick off time as well as athletic club members,  Doncaster Belles, gym members, and groups that play in the cages, all there every Tuesday and Thursday and have been since the stadium opened and with the one way system have to drive around the stadium on exit.
After the game are people getting away from the game its self. Like crossing the road normally people should be vigilant.

There's some proper pricks drive away from the ground after matches. Typical bell ends in Chelsea Tractors who work on the assumption that because they have somewhere to go, everyone else should make way for them. Only a matter of time before someone gets knocked down on Stadium Way, the speed with which some pricks drive through the crowd of departing pedestrians. What is it with some people and having a steering wheel in their hands?

Selby, the club themselves have laid out the rules regarding movement on Alick Jeffries Way. This is the problem.
After every game there are vehicles waiting at the barrier into Car Park 2 that shouldn't have moved, ptesumably trying to get away by leaving early. We had an incident with a transit van roaring round after the game that several of us contacted the club about. A couple of weeks back there was even an away supprters coach driving round pre match.
The problem is there is no stewarding outside the ground, as far as I know, to prevent this movement.

Totally correct, like all clubs we have spectators of all ages and physical abilities, just wait 5-10 minutes and then drive off

So let me get this right, move midweek fixtures to a Wednesday because a few car drivers can’t wait up to 10 minutes to drive off, makes a lot of sense !!!

I am not excusing bad driving by the way. pointing out just how busy it is every Tuesday and Thursday every week throughout the season, I have watched the problem grow as more people use the facilities , the easy way would be to move home games to Wednesday and why not as it used to be the day used most for midweek games, its either that or trying to police the whole of the inner circle and customers who are not at the football game before kick off.

As ravenrover said, the club made the rule and it’s just being ignored, accident waiting to happen

A simple solution would be to advise all the non matchday users to use CP3/4 down the other end thus away from the stadium, simple surely?

I think the academy do, but we have no say over the athletics club and unless things have improved  not the best of friends the reason the centre is off bounds to us to play matches on as was the idea when first opened.
The situation does need sorting out though if people are abusing speed limits and common sense, but might not be that easy.
