CBs positioning
« on April 12, 2025, 05:45:40 pm by Ryaldinhio »
Both Wood and Anderson wandering and way out of position for their goal today. I thought it when I saw the goal, but just watched the replay and it's worse than I thought.

It was the same against Walsall multiple times.

Cant get my head around it, both very experienced and know they don't have pace, surely keeping position is the easiest thing to do?!

Wood is done for me I'm afraid. Get McGrath back in with Ando now.

Agreed provided they don’t just pass to each other for most of the game!

When they scored Wood went to engage Bugiel and bounced off him like he was a 10 year old. We were in bother after that.

In most games this season the team we have played start quickly push down our left side knowing very rarely do we stop the wide player getting to the bye line and the cross or cut back stopped from coming in, with central defenders facing their own goal, and with players at the far post or coming through behind them.
It's and has been our soft underbelly all season, Players with a left foot as their natural kicking foot always look more composed on the ball and attract supporters admiration, but few go both ways most can be taken both sides for some reason and there are few top left footed defenders, England struggling for years  with very few memorable ones.
Senior improved the second half going forward on some eye catching runs, McGrath came on and ducked under a ball, got his feet mixed up on another occasion and we never looked at ease and got away with i, although Anderson was  solid while on and played the best balls out of defence  fast and crisp to feet, while Sterry continued his impressive form.
In front of them our midfield worked hard  but with little real class  Broadbent the pick of the bunch, and most of our best attacking play was with the wide men although Molyneux was two manned all the game.
Street struggled  with a pacey defender and a deep back line reducing his ability to get behind. but put over a good chance when well placed.
  Not our best display.

Anderson was covering Wood. No surprise Wood went off he looked well off it. I think time has finally caught up to him. However he did make a great block not long after to keep it 0-1.

If our CB's aren't on it at Salford, we'll get mullered. Their forwards were lethal at Notts County, and Haks will want to score against us.

We are missing Oluwu and McGrath not fully match fit, Wood is too slow and Anderson only slightly faster

I thought it was an odd decision to bring Jay on for the second half but thinking about what you have just said Sproty, maybe Grant wanted to give him half a game to prepare him for Tuesday.

I'd rather Bailey played there if McGrath isn't fit enough too. Wood has been dreadful and I've said Oluwu being out is going to cost us. Massive massive downgrade

Wood took his place on the bench with an ice pack.
