I absolutely  agree Glen. That is EXACTLY what football should be. But it isn't.

As football has been allowed to develop the only criteria of success acceptable to a very large number of people is success on the field. Achieving that demands money. Lots of it. So clubs have to maximise revenue, not attendance. We all saw what happened 3 years ago when the Rovers had no money. There are cataracts and cataracts of complaints on here about what happened - and attendances fell off a cliff.

It's a choice we all have to make. Support a struggling, boring club that'll never win anything, or aim higher by maximising revenue.

I know your view. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. I'm a child of the 70's. I've supported this club through shit, shit and more shit. But how many contributors on here will share that view do you think? How many 'supporters' out in the big, wide world? We already have the answer:  attendances not very long ago tell us all we need to know.

It's realism or idealism.
