Grants Interview
« on August 05, 2025, 11:42:45 pm by Ryaldinhio »
"After the game on Saturday I said if we could improve the team we would. This is a statement of that."

Smirk*

"Not a statement signing before the fans start jumping down my throat"

Reference back to the Rob Street signing in Jan?

I know I'm putting two and two together and getting 67 here but he has a way of doing this Grant, like his smirk about 'a keeper signing' and it was the TLT we all wanted!

If Street signed now it would be all Christmases at once!!!!!!

That said, I see Lincoln have sold a few already so even more unlikely than it already was.

I noticed Street started on the right wing for Lincoln Saturday, I think we'll have enquired for sure and Lincoln will have said no. Should imagine we will be monitoring the situation and be back in for him January

I’m hoping that we don’t feel the need to try to get him come January.

I honestly think if we did go and get him, assuming the price was right for his current club, then we'd be right up there with a shout of the playoffs......I know we've moved up a division and all that, however he's one hell of a striker in this team. And probably the best we've had since Billy or Marquis in their prime, thoughts ??

Potentially, but we haven't had him for long enough to make that assessment.

I would park any thoughts about Street and get on with supporting our current players. If and when in the future, who knows, I'm sure McCann will be sending him birthday and Christmas cards. No reason to believe he's not going to be successful at Lincoln and be a fans favourite .

I wouldn't say it was Street but I would say that there is a good possibility of a striker coming in on Loan.

The whole we don't have to send people out to bring anyone in and if get a chance to strengthen then we have the financial ability to do that, makes me believe we aren't finished and that is the last place I think we need to add to, could see Ironside being one who he spoke to about playing time as well.

I do support my team Baz, and will always encourage any player in the hoops, however that doesn't stop me from having an opinion, I was hoping for a better performance from our new striker on Saturday and he may well come good, and hopefully bag 20+ goals this season, I would be like a dog with two dicks if he does, however the fact remains obvious to me that Rob Street was a class act for us.

I'm not suggesting otherwise and I agree with you. He was excellent and played a major part in helping us seal promotion. All I'm suggesting, is managing our expectations. Probably like you, I'll be checking how he gets on at Lincoln regularly.

As Shawn says, there might be other possibilities in the nearer future but yes, I'd love to see Street in a Rovers shirt again.

It does feel to me that we'd have all boxes ticked with another forward. But that would mean Ironside going out. Does Joe deserve an opportunity?  Hard to say for me, he didn't perform last year and not sure he can refind the form.

I'd expect Sbarra, Close, Westbrook and Hurst to leave by end of August surely?

Finding a way to move players on is a key part of football.

I’d like to see how Ironside copes with some of those beautiful crosses that Middleton supplied ! I’d still be tempted to give him a go !

I think McCann is pretty clear in his actions - you can’t see Close, Ironside or Westbrooke staying around much longer.

They should be able to get clubs too. We might have to pay a portion of salary but Westbrooke, Sbarra and Hurst are all good L2 players if given a chance. Close in the right team would look a very good player too.

Hopefully not like a few seasons ago where we had some rubbish that was never going to be taken off our hands. Totally different now we’ve decent players who we’ve outgrown
