Alternative Saturday matches
« on February 13, 2026, 01:13:30 pm by VivaRovers »
No game for Rovers means you've a chance to get out and watch other local teams in action this weekend.
Here's a list of the local sides' fixtures for Saturday (annoyingly, most are away)...

7th tier:
  • Gainsborough Trinity vs Workington (Northern Prem)
9th tier:
  • Eccleshill United vs Rossington Main (NCEL Prem)
  • Handsworth vs Frickley Atheltic (NCEL Prem)
10th tier:
  • Doncaster City vs Louth Town (NCEL 1)
  • Maltby Main vs Club Thorne Colliery (NCEL 1)
  • Route One Rovers vs Armthorpe Welfare (NCEL 1)
  • Retford vs Coalville Town (UCL 1)
  • Stapleford Town vs Retford United (UCL 1)
11th tier:
  • Dinnington Town vs AFC Bentley (CML Prem North)
  • Harworth Colliery vs Brodsworth Main (CML Prem North)
  • Rossington Main Res. vs Glapwell (CML Prem North)
  • South Elmsall United Services vs Denaby Main (SHCS Prem)

And on Sunday, there's...
  • Doncaster Rovers Belles vs Barnsley Women (Sheff County Cup) at Retford FC
  • Batley Bulldogs vs The Dons (Rugby League Champ)

Where will you be heading?

What about Sheff Weds v Millwall - we need to support these smaller teams who are in danger of heading out of the league.

Scunny at home to Boston.

Whitby Town v Ashton for me, assuming weather allows! I'm up there anyway making the most of the gap in fixtures!

Not looked but if Worksop are at home their matches sometimes survive due to the 3G pitch

Never forgive Harrogate railways for poaching our star striker at Pannal Sports in 90’s and derailing our promotion in the Harrogate league.
Up the Nostell.

I had a couple of seasons playing for Nostell Miners Welfare. It’ll be about 25 years ago. Cracking set up back then.

Alternative games!! Lads it's Valentine's Day. A day to stay home with your loved one (show them you are taking a day off from the Rovers to show your love for them) but still at least pretend there is an away match somewhere that you have given up on for them...check the fake score. Also there happens to be footy on the TV this weekend too.

What a game at Scunny! Scunny 3 Boston 6! Even with 6 goals Jordy Hiwula still couldn't score for Boston! Mental.

Dearne win again, another good performance, had a couple of beers while watching, cost me a fiver and I could walk there and back, plus zero stress

I went to a 10th tier game to watch my local team Steeton AFC versus Droylsden in the North West Counties League Division One (North).

Steeton are my second team after Rovers and I have a season ticket, although this was only my second game of the season due to following Donny and the fixtures normally clashing.

I know the manager of Steeton AFC, Roy Mason, and I had a chat with him before kick-off.
To my amazement he told me that a Rovers player might be at the game today. Apparently Matty Pearson has been taking some training sessions at Steeton as he is doing his coaching badges. Matty is a local Keighley lad and Roy Mason went to school with Matty’s dad, so Roy is helping Matty to get some coaching experience. Matty had been doing some training sessions this morning.

Anyway, Matty wasn’t among the 97 fans at the game (I counted them) and Steeton lost 6-1.

Not to worry - it was good to have a 10 minute drive home instead of an hour and three quarters after a Rovers home game!

Route One Rovers sound like they were set up in protest by a group of disgruntled fans during the first six months of SOD’s tenure.

Great result. Just been having a look at the league tables for the Counties prem & division 1. Didn’t realise Rosso were struggling as much as they are. Hopefully they can turn it round. Looks a bridge too far for Wellie and Thorne to get to the play offs this season but a very respectable finish on the cards for both.
