Surely if Billy wants to  come here,  we or more importantly the board have to find a way of funding him. All clubs are after strikers who score goals , we have one  & we need to keep him , he also seems to enjoy playing for SOD & the club which is important.

Surely if the other players are on approx £3,000 per week? then surely getting rid of 3 of these [ Heffs , Guy + 1 other ] then we can afford to pay him the £10,000 per week i've heard quoted on here.

I feel he's waiting until the end of the season to see if Blackwell goes then he may get a fairer chance at  Sheffield United , which after all is the club he supports.

But if  that doesn't happen &  no Premier club comes in for him i feel we may have a chance, lets hope so.

Never mind next season, keep your fingers crossed Sharp stays free from injury this season.

There's precious little cover if he doesn't. That's what worries me at the moment.

the problem is its not simply about balancing the books. our highest paid player is currently on about 6.5k a week as far as i know, if we then start giving billy 10k a week, other players might start thinking \"well why can he have that but i can only have this etc etc\"...im pretty sure thats why player wages are kept so close within our squad within reason, and why JR wont break the bank for 1 player.

also, you get rid of heffs, guy and 1 other, then star man billy gets injured...wheres the depth of the squad gone? oh wait, we got rid of it to fund 1 mans wages...doesnt make a lot of sense.

the way i see it is the only way we will sign billy permanently is if he takes a pay cut to a more reasonable level (at a guess he would still be our highest earner and probably on 7-7.5k) to get first team football. if he's got any sense thats what he would do, as stagnating in sheff utds reserves for 10k a week wont exactly help his career...unless a bigger club comes in for him of course, then it all changes.

If Billy continues to score goals for the rest of the season at his present rate, I'm pretty sure some top Championship side eg West Brom / Forest will be in for him.

I would expect Billy to be playing for Leicester or Forest, maybe somebody like Preston who will bankrupt themselves to paty daft wages. He won't be going back to the blades because a) they will not pay big wages anymore and b) Blackwell will never use him, and he won't be going while ever they stay within a chance of the playoffs.

Well it is ultimately his choice, him and John Ryan have said they will talk in the summer about what to do, if he feels that his time with Sheffield United is up and wants to come to us, his wage bill shouldnt be that much of a problem since I honestly think this will be Woods last season with us and he can't be one of the lowest paid players after he chose us because it was a 'big offer' following his release from Rotherham. Things like this is going to happen and we will somehow figure something out, it may turn out that Sheffield United are happy to loan him back to us with us to buy him in january, they are reasonable club and will defiantly sell, they can't need the money badly or would have sold him in the summer, so a payment plan could be figured out, and the wages would be something for billy to choose.

However, we cannot urge to sell 3 players because that would make us a one man team, yes we need goals, but over the years we've had a squad in depth, I do understand that as far as most fans are concerned we are one man squad, since we praised him for Hayter's goal before praising the goal scorer himself, there is a reason for this obviously, the fans love a player who isn't ours, and like to moan at our strikers more if they make a mistake like billy sometimes does, everyone is saying that without him we will be nothing and I beg to differ, one of our better performances of the season came at home to Cardiff, with one up front and no Sharp, as well at Sheffield United, which saw us come under so much pressure in the second half, but still manage to cope i doubt playing billy would have had any impact at all.

Personally id have John Parkin, he is the striker we have been missing who would get many goals with us, and since Mark McCammon we havent had a big striker and makes our crosses less dangerous even with Hayters amazing heading ability. (which are ten times better than sharps)

Most of you will probably disagree, but this is my opinion alone, so please if you want to criticize my comments, criticize this:

We don't need Billy Sharp!! :)
