Given the injury to Ashley Cole this is going to leave the national team with a left back crisis come the world cup. Bridge was never going to be first choice, but probably second behind the Ashley \"serial shagger to prove he's not a batty boy\" Cole.

Potentially Cole will not recover, and certainly not likely to be match fit, in time for the summer. Where does that leave us? Lescott? Milner? Gareth Barry at a push. I can't see top class international right wingers quaking in their boots at that proposition.

As for this decision, I say well done to Bridge. He clearly can't work in a squad with Terry and realises the rifts his inclusion could cause which would upset the team. I applaud the fact that he has made this decision now rather than a lot closer to the event to give the manager more options to look at other players.

He has sacrificed his England career for the good of the team - how many would do that just before a world cup?

Exactly Rigo. What he is really saying is I'm not professional enough to do my job properly.. We might have split up, but she is my property. as someone else played with my toy I'm going to throw my toys out of the pram and not come out and play with the other boys...

Pathetic.

I thought all young footballers dreamed of playing for their country in a world cup.

he ought to roll his lip away and grow up I think.

I've just been on Facebook and noticed this:

Cheryl Cole has changed her status from in a relationship to single. John Terry likes this.

I'm sorry but this is nothing other than good news. Having watched a good deal of Wayne Bridge play I'm of the firm opinion that he's slightly worse than Nic Priet. The man has not a jot of positional sense, and relies solely upon his pace to get back and defend when he realises he's wandered off again. Man City fans would testify to this. At international level he can't get away with it.

If we can't have a full back who can bomb forward and defend like Cole - who will probably be fit anyway - then I'm more than happy to see Baines in there. Baines has arguably been Everton's best player this season and is only frowned upon because he's deemed as an unfashionable choice.
