Why do we bother having Police at games?

When they scored, a few of their morons decided to run onto the pitch. The stewards dealt with the situation and tried to eject them. Result, mobs of Newcastle meatheads surrounding and throwing punches at the stewards, and then being allowed to stay in the stadium.

All the while, the Police look on, more bothered about trying to stop Rovers supporters giving any banter.

Disgrace.

My point being that the Police were more bothered about young lads trying to have a bit of banter, threatening to arrest them etc etc, than they were of stewards being assaulted.

I think you are right Mr F. But why did they let him go and then try and find him again after? Mind, half of our stewards act like dicks anyway. They will always go for an easy target, like somone standing in a yellow area while the game is on or stopping you use the stairs nearest the bogs because it \"closed due to segregation\" when the nearest fan are in line with the 18 yard box!

I find the segregation in the west stand a bit bizarre. It is only this season it has been in place.
