A bit of sensible temporary road closure would solve the problem. Stop anyone travelling up White Rose Way from the Outlet so that traffic leavingvthe stadium to go towards Carr House Road gas priority at the roundabout. Block off the entrance onto White Rose way at Porcelanosa so that traffic going towards the M18 has to go down Stadium Way but has 100% priority at the roundabout by the Outlet.

You might need to explain your routes again as it's confusing, before I start arguing against it. You might also want to consider writing a letter of approval to the council and ask for temp road closure orders (not easy to get neither and that's just for minor roads) before we consider closing arterial routes in/out of Doncaster. I'll give you any odds now, that you'll not get them. Finally, I never thought my taxes would be for the Cops to be glorified traffic lights. Might want to consider DMBC traffic marshals or SMC staff doing something, as they can, obviously once you get your road closure order in place. As I've said, we have upteen car parks, side roads all filtering into one temp gridlocked road. For a short period, you are going to be stuck in traffic. Think lot's of people, think many brum brums, think what it's like in rush hour....think walking, think alternative easier parking and then a walk, think push-bikes, think once, think twice, think bike!

Temporary road closures are in place for every single home match at Bramall Lane (for example) and I'm sure many other places. It's a matter of will. The police clearly don't see it as a major problem if 5,000 people sit twiddling their thumbs for an hour outside the KMS. They have more pressing priorities. Like pretending to be Carabinieri getting Mafia bosses to and from the jailhouse.

Of course, coppers frequently WERE glorified traffic lights back in the day, before they managed to persuade us all that that was beneath them and they should be doing sexier work.

On nights like Tuesday, by the way, it wasn't people sat in traffic \"for a short period\". The entire system was gridlocked for the thick end of an hour, entirely due to the actions of the Plod in prioritising the evacuation of the Toon fans and then doing fcuk all to aleviate the problem that they had caused.

And of course, as a result, the major arterial road that you speak of IS effectively closed to non-match traffic coming into Donny on nights like Tuesday. I bet anybody coming home after a hard day on the road was chuffed to fcuking bits that the Plod and Council had kept White Rose Way open for them, as they ran into the gridlock and sat there till 11pm. Now, if a bit of common sense was applied and for an hour or so White Rose Way was partially closed, with traffic off the M18 diverted off up Balby Carr, job done. Even better - why not use them new electronic signs on the motorway that never ever give any relevant information whatsoever to advise traffic for Donny between 21:45 and 23:00 to take the A1(M) and come in through Balby?

It requires a bit of thought and a bit of planning, I grant you, but we're hardly talking Operation fcuking Overlord here are we? What it requires is for someone in authority to give a shit.

Why don't you park at Hyde Park or Belle Vue area. Why not B & Q side. No or limited queuing at these locations. It's only a short walk

On all my visits to The Lane, or any other grounds I've not seen road closures in operation. The only closures I see are side streets for residential parking.

And of course we don't sit for 1 hour all the time neither, do we. Let's put a bit of realism in here. This was the big game when traffic would be at it's highest. Are we saying for every Rovers game we are having to sit for 1 hour, cos on average it's taking me 20-30 mins to get home.....and I park as close to the ground as I can.

Again, traffic coming off the motorway into Doncaster at around 10pm is hardly going to number count past 1 hand is it. It's hardly making a massive impact on congestion. Once again, it's the sheer volume of traffic leaving one place at one particular time.

Not sure what you're arguing here Cussy. Firstly it was a no-no to even think about closing White Rose Way because it is a major arterial road. Then, there's nobody using it. So presumably now you're agreeing that if White Rose Way was entirely closed off from the Outlet to the roundabout before Carr House Road (thus allowing traffic leaving the KMS either North or South to have priority) it wouldn't seriously inconvenience the rest of civilization?

And yes, it could be implemented just for the bigger matches. Of which there are half a dozen or so each season, all pretty easy to identify.

By the way, Bramall Lane itself is entirely closed to traffic on match days. This is a major arterial road. It's the A621 and connects the Inner Ring Road to the major roads running south/south east out of Sheffield. As I say, a matter of will and priority.

My point is clear. We have large amounts of traffic at a given time for a short period. We will get queues of traffic, unfortunately for some. We cannot close the roads round the ground as we have industrial/work units, shopping centres, eating establishments etc etc (are they going to be happy with this). We have extensive parking around the stadia. Our ground is next to the main arterial routes in/out of Doncaster. We have a new fangled out of town ground built next to out of town commercial, business units. There's a few at it mate. I take your point re the Lane, but that's built around a few houses and easy to do, easy to divert etc etc not like what we have.

Now get used to the queues for the odd big game and you will be OK. Alternatively, like I said, if you are still unhappy try those alternative parking haunts......after that I can't help you my friend.

Shall we move onto the argument of why haven't we got road-sweepers permanently outside a chippy?

Right I'm off to watch MotD......tbc

It looks like the road to the motorway is being made into a dual carriageway, more congestion when the start it
