Not a hint of controversy in Hossack's piece in the Star today. What a good story this whole debacle would have been for a keen young journalist. In fact, as several on this forum on here will recall, Hossack consistently towed the party line eleven years ago.

It was made quite clear that he (and his paper) would not be afraid to take action if I said anything else. He's always been this way as are most journalists (Radio Sheffield is terrible for this) and unfortunately decent investigative journalists don't spend any length of time working for two-bit publications like the Free Press or Star.
Hundreds of travelling Rovers' fans returning to their home town to enjoy the festive spirit of a bumper home gate against high flying Leicester City were left counting the cost of the postponement today. An Irish fan travelling from the Emerald Isle was red with fury and £500 out of pocket . Others travelling from Wiltshire , Northumberland , London , Hampshire , not only lost their travel costs but also many of them spent hours in heavy traffic in poor weather . The frustration was tinged with anger at the club's prevoius announcement that the match would be on and all efforts were being made to assure it did . The ticket office having been closed over the holidays many supporters flooded the telephone lines at Keepmoat on the morning of the match and were still being sold tickets at 10. 30 a.m whilst the ill fated pitch inspection was being carried out simultaneously . The Rovers's Chairman, only days before , had spoken to the media at his disappointment at the level of support from the fans . No doubt this event will further discourage those fans who live out of town or abroad from risking their money to pay for transport and overnight accomodation on the occasion of winter matches at Keepmoat.
...after having had protective sheeting covering the whole pitch during the worst of the recent wintry weather. For my money that implies the pitch was not covered on Sunday evening.
