This has been puzzling me for a week now. JR was reoprted as saying that if the Rovers could sell an extra 2,000 ST's then we'd be able to afford 2 or 3 million pound players with the Board making up the annual trading deficit. Have I got that wrong?

Assuming I haven't, how does that work then? Let's be generous and say that the average ST sells for £350. That's over generous I suspect. But let's assume it. 2000 * £350 is £700K. So how do we get 2 or 3 million pound players for £700K then?

I suppose we could securitise the future income. Hardly likely though given the financial policies of this Board. I suppose we could borrow more from the bank. I suppose we could carry long term debt whilst using the extra ST mnoney to pay the interest.

Is there some other new income stream, or vastly increased income stream due to start this summer/next season?

Anyone got any other ideas?

Could always be financed by using the family silver, the problem being that we've only got 2 players that would command fees in excess of 1 million.

How about another share issue? I understand that there was one during the last financial year....wonder where those shares went!!!

I suppose the extra 2000 ST's would probably mean an increase in other areas of making money for DRFC. How many of those would buy progs, shirts, misc items, join vsc, alliance, sponsor a player etc etc


The more you have within your flock the bigger the potential you have to spend.

As Toyah would say, it's still a mystewy, on how this will make 2-3 mill.

Anybody know what TV money we get and have been getting.

It does beg the question, do we need to amass a couple of million again off season (ala MM and RW). I'm not sure we need too. I think the extra revenue needed is to push on again, rather than consolidate.

The players would be purchased in stage payments, say £700k per year, and the more money we have coming in to the club the more we can loan against it (not that this is necessarily a good thing)?

But all these figures implicitly mean that 2000 extra STs equate to 2000 more fans. One assumes that amy new STs would in fact cone from among the current non-ST holders who attend most weeks. If they were to buy STs rather than match tickets on an ad hoc basis, our income mighteven reduce (albeit that we would have security of income and upfront funds).

This all sounds like JR's PR going into overdrive again without a great deal of underpinning maths.

After the \"mouth watering signings\" affair pre season, I don't think I will ever take much notice of anything John Ryan says again. It's quite clear that the maths doesn't even come close to adding up and this is desperate propaganda from Ryan, nothing more. It's about time he put a sock in it because he is beginning to make himself look more of an idiot than he thinks us fans are.

Maybe factor in than the Wellens and Mills deals were probably structured over a few years and we should be seeing a few £000'k coming in from that.

Not sure if much has changed from last year though, and if the board elected to downsize last year, I can't see it being much different this year.

I'm expecting a few more season long loans, a couple of signings on nominal fees and one of either Stock, Woods or O'Connor to be sold.
