Come home Chris Brown?
« on May 14, 2010, 10:12:42 pm by Barmby Rover »
Championship side Preston have been served with a winding up petition by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs.

A statement from the Deepdale club said it had received the petition following the failure to pay certain liabilities.

The company's ordinary shares will be suspended from trading from 17 May pending financial clarification.

On Thursday, North End borrowed a further £550,000 from leisure tycoon Trevor Hemmings to \"meet the cost of players' wages due this month\".

The cash injection took Hemmings's investment in the Deepdale club to £13.82m including interest.

The Lancashire club, who were one of the 12 founding members of the Football League, are considering their available options and will make a further announcement soon.

They finished the season in 17th place under manager Darren Ferguson, the son of Manchester United boss Sir Alex.

Suppose they could sell 4/5 players and then get some loans in....should their manager have any decent Premiership contacts of course!

Would take Parkin in the blink of an eye! But bringing Brown back would make the glass half full easy. Maybe we could even change King Billy to King Chris, or have i spoke too soon

I'd have Parkin too, but I doubt Sean would be impressed with his nocturnal activities.

this to me is whats wrong very wrong in football. preston have just offered a contract to paul hayes and signed him on a three year contract, obviously they cant afford this contract yet they have signed him.we need some kind of rule where if your so much in debt by the end of the season you cant afford to buy anyone or offer contracts to free contracts.the bigger question how do you stop this from happening? maybe has a trial if you owe more than 10 million you can only use the loan market, until finances are improved then it might make it a fairer playing field?and clubs might invest more on youth players and in return a better national squad, don't think most big clubs would like the idea though.

Not interested in bringing Chris Brown back - do not think he would get you 20 goals in a season and that is the sort of striker that we need.

I don't think that Brown's off-field activities unless they've improved since he was here would impress SoD

It never seemed to do Woods career at Rovers any harm, SOD's only issues wiuth him was how fit he was and how he played. He worked at them and is now a far better player, Brown would be the same if he came.

I liked what I saw of Chris Brown in his time with us, albeit in a lower division & when Browny was a wee bit younger & perhaps more 'naive' as a player.

To have a player with a bit of a 'prescence' up front, is an option we have not had the luxury of being able to employ this past season.

When I saw him play against us home & away last season, I couldn't help but imagine what a positive influence he would have on our way of playing....a build up from midfield resulting in a pass or cross to a player with the nouse to be in the right place. I truly believe Chris Brown is that type of player & with SOD's 'coaching' & influence, this player can only flourish, both in his own career & more importantly, bring something to the team we don't currently have.

Couple that with his 'attachment' to the club via his dad, Alan, we might just hve a gem on our hands...finances permitting!

Agree 100%. He is a much better player than when he was last here. He has scored 2 very good goals against us in the 2 years we have been in this league, and has always caused us problems when we have played PNE.

I think he'd be a great signing.
