After this record breaking signing will the expectations of the board change from survival to something more ambitious now?

Another thing although not quite the same I hope billy doesn't do a Berbatov and let his price tag add pressure to his game.

Cant see Billy getting all big-headed TBH.  The lad just wants to play footy, and thats why he came to us.

Having survived quite comfortably for two seasons without splashing too much cash I believe the signing of Sharp shows massive intent.

We don't need to spend that kind of money to survive in this league and financially it wouldn't make sense for a club already losing a couple of million a year.

So in my mind it's one of two things.

a)  Looked on as an asset that we can cash in on further down the line.

b) (I'm going moist as I type this) Destination Premiership.

When i listened to Billy's interview on player, what stood out for me was he said,\"work\",and \"its my job\",\"typical Yorkshireman\".We all know his blood is striped and not hooped, and by all accounts he turned down a much better offer from Burnley. So in my estimation if it wasn't to be at the lane,Billy must think the keepmoat is the next best thing for him and his knew wife.
Is this gonna be the year we give the play-offs a push????,who knows anything can happen between now and next May,but after 2 great campaigns in the CCC,things seem to be heading in the direction J.R.and the board have always planned \"FORWARD\",as one of the old guard,\"I've seen what money and T.V.have done to the English game,\"England's S.Africa trials show us that\"but Billy Sharp for me showed us all,??? to him playing the game is more important to him than a faster car or a bigger house. At 24 Billy has made a decision to give the best 3yrs of his football life to the club I've supported for over 40yrs.Lets hope what ever the future holds for Billy and D.R.F.C,we can all enjoy the ride.

If Billy is an investment to the board, then to realise that investment Billy would have to be successful, and if Billy is successful then he would be scoring goals for fun. The conclusion is that they see Billy and the Rovers being successful otherwise it's a piss poor gamble is it not? :)

Yet another reason for giving huge credit to the board is the momentum this gives us. Players (like Keogh) will look at us very differently now - like it or not we might become flavour of the month for some very good players who are not getting the contracts they want elsewhere given the overall economic situation. Why not 'resurrect' a career under SOD/ROK and JR? I wouldn't be surprised if some other 'mouth-watering' players are linked with us over the next few weeks.

This in addition, thanks to SOD/ROK, to being seen as a potential finishing school for Premier Laegue club's most promising youth.

Not just any old John, Dick and Terry

Happy happy days

what blackpool did last season must have had a possitive knock on effect within ALL ranks at drfc, down to extent how drfc are setting their stall out this season.

looking at rovers now i dont think no football fan attached to
any championship club will predict a bottom 3 spot for rovers
this season, more a mid table sure bet.

i suppose the above will be said for all teams in championship
too.

I could be wrong, mush, but I thought I read that there is a sell on clause of 10%

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this progression the club is making.  Off the pitch the Nike deal can only be good for us.  Sorting the club shop out too - great. Moves in the right direction.  Hope that continues.

On the pitch... we've added quality each season pretty much for the last decade. Since we came up to the CCC we've done brilliantly given the resources and the fact that we ended up selling two of our best players in Mills and Wellens last Summer and we lost Robbo this Summer...  The signing of Billy takes us up another level and is massive for us.  Massive.  It makes other potential signings (be they permanent or loans) look at us in a different light I believe.

Astute additions such as Friend and bringing back Gillett are great as well.  Good young players.

Hats off the the Chairman and Board - they deserve all the plaudits and to have the KMS full this season.

I think the last time I was this excited about a season was when we got back into the League and that scorching day at Orient....  And we know what happened THAT season.

Id just love a Wembley Play Off final again.

Donny v Leeds, Billy scores the only goal of the game 5 minutes into the second half and all that.

Stranger things have happened.

Imagine beating Leeds at Wembley in a play off final. If we ever did that, it would be brilliant.
