Is this where fifteen people post fifteen different reasons why McIndoe \"really\" left?

I'm happier with Copps   ;)

We've moved on from him, and IMO he has gone backwards, I wouldn't want him back at the club.

dont think he would fit back into our team anymore, i still rate him as a great player but im not convinced he would fit into our style of play and team mentality anylonger.

You mean he didn't get his dream move to Real Madrid in a last ditched attempt to get into the Scotland squad.  Yesterday's man where's Uros Predic?

He wouldn't keep our bench warm never mind start. I'd sooner have Stuart Elliott back.

Got to agree with the sentiment, jb.

Macca gave us three good years.  How about a bit of respect, fellas?

Why he left has been done to death.

I agree with that too.  Copps really stepped up (out of the shadows, some may say) when Macca left.

Probably because Copps couldn't stand Macca, along with a couple of others.

I'd have him back tomorrow! Although he'd not get in the XI, he'd be a helluva backup, that is of course Sean and co. could get him back somewhere near to the standards he had here. It's depressed me to be fair to see him looking so shite since he left us whenever we've played against him, when you think of the way teams were destroyed by him (and the lads around him at the time) in the bottom two tiers! A quality player for us, and one I'd certainly welcome back. Regardless of how or why he left us in the first place! At the time, for whatever reason he moved on to better himself - and who could blame him? Coming back to us now, he would undoubtedly better himself again!

I too would have him back tomorrow, too many people have short memories about Macca, he was a legend here for 3 years, and i'm sure if he returned to us he would be a valuble member of our squad, even if he started on the bench what a player to be able to call upon if things werent going right, or someone gets injured. Think of the crosses he would put in for the likes of Billy and Brooker, they would get a hatful of goals between them. :)  :)

Always respect what the lad did on the pitch for us, but we have moved on. Ill always applaud him when he plays against us before the game, but thats the lot.

I will always have the greatest of respect for Macca. He gave us three very good years. Without him I dont think we would have got as far as we did, and his presence in the games against Man City, Aston Villa and Arsenal was immense.

Having said that, at the time, Macca was a big fish in a little pond.

If he were to return now he would just be one of many good players, and I think he would only be a squad player.

I think it's true that Copps came out from under his shadow once he left, and for me Copps is (on his day) a much better player ie Southend.

Imagine how good it could be then if he's playing with better players around him...

Just a thought...

No way do we want him back. One minute some of you are saying he wouldn't get in the starting X1 and he would be a good substitute etc etc.
The reason he left was because he fell out with Dave Penny who dropped him.
His ego wouldn't allow him to come to a club and not be a first choice player.

We have moved onwards and upwards he can't say the same sadly.

I remember in his last season with us he only turned up for the big games and when on Sky!

We don't play the rigid 4-4-2 which he used to enjoy under Penney. both parties have moved on in very different ways and we have what I'd call a 'jigsaw' of a team where each player compliments others, rather than a bunch of talented players (eg. England!)

Also strikes me as not being SO'D's type of player.

If we were looking for wide left we want Lloyd Dyer  ;)

Was a massive player for us granted, but wat a complete d*ckhead!

Especially the way in which he left, to a local rival, who werent better than us at the time. Just constantly wanting to further himself, which is a good thing, but jumping from club to club, he deserves to be struggling for his lack of loyalty, not just to us, but the clubs he's been at since.

Total disagreement with the above posts in that McIndoe is exactly an O'Driscoll type player and a model professional in the way he conducted himself on the field whilst at Rovers. His attacking prowese doesn't really need comment (I think he was still at the top of the stats for crosses & assists last season) but beyond that I dont think I have ever seen a harder working player, whenever we lost the ball he would always be the first to chase back and to help the fullback. Did he show lack of loyalty to Rovers or did Rovers show lack of loyalty to him? Any team would be the better for talented players.

But all that said I wouldn't go chasing him, if he were looking for a deal back with us fine, but lets move on and build a team for the future not the past.

No I don't have a short memory. And personally I think my sentiments are correct with regard to having McIndoe back. At his best, Elliott was far better than McIndoe. Go compare records, goal scoring, internationals. Elliott was regarded as one of the best headers of a ball outside the top flight, and I think it is a travesty that he didn't get a fair crack of the whip here. I won't cover old ground with what I think about McIndoes departure, but I don't deny when he was here he was a instrumental player.
But would he get in our midfield now? The answer is no and he would offer nothing we don't have in reserve either.

If you would like to offer a sensible counter argument instead of insults then lets have it.

Quick thought for Ray (Bradford Exile):

Yes, Copps on a day ike Southend is a better player than macca ever was. But remind me. Just how many days 'like Southend' has Copps actually played? Just the one?

Now, macca. Not as good as Copps that day I agree. But in maybe 75% of all the games he played for the Rovers, he made a material and noticeable difference. As Stu said above, he worked harder than just about any other player I remember in the hoops. His crossing was consistently beautiful. His dribbling and tackling were always above the average.

I know which one I'd rather have playing for us week after week. And it's not Copps. Flatters to deceive that lad does.

His attitude on the pitch was fantastic no doubt. What I should have said is i don't think that he is the sort of character sean wants in the dressing room. He's used every club in his career as a stepping stone and would only see a move back here as one last pay day.
Also, i dont think this should go to a macca v copps argument despite knowing which i would prefer. There are fors and againsts for both players of course which make for intriguing debate.

A stepping stone he stopped on for three years?  Gerraway.
