No Keogh for weakened Wolves side last night...
« on August 25, 2010, 08:12:19 am by Red Rover »
Can we read anything into this?

Is this Mick McCarthy stating he is no longer in his plans at all and is maybe open to a loan deal?

Whilst the likes of Leeds, Bristol City, Ipswich are splashing the cash signing McCormack, Stead, Scotland respectively, it would be nice to see us get Keogh in on loan!  :) ...and maybe a couple of cheeky youths from Prem teams  ;)

The sale of Ross McCormack will fund AK deal. CCFC are not paying 30K a week for Bellamy, no where near that amount. Also with the sale of extra shirts and whatever else the Bellamy signing has invoked, the money coming in is in excess of whats going out. Good bit of business i think.

Even when they're on the verge of administration? Surely the money coming in shud be going straight out on bills, not back into players

But they are not in administration, so why worry on that score. Maybe a few weeks/months down the line they will be, but currently they are not. The revenue brought in recently by extra shirt sales with CB 39 on them has paid the debt to Motherwell ( i think ) . So business as usual at CCFC.

Wonder why we've not made a proper approach then after SOD confirmed we were interested.
Didn't McCarthy say he wouldn't loan him out?
JET anyone?

He did say exactly that. He also said there would be no benefit to Wolves in loaning Keogh and that Keogh would want to join a Premiership side anyway.

Basically McCarthy talks out of his crapper.

Still surprised we haven't made a firm approach.

It's probably our fault for not selling enough season tickets and bringing our friends down.

Are you seriously trying to condone their recent actions...........they reportedly owe at least £15 million. The sale of Bellend shirts won't even cover his wages let alone their creditors.
Motherwell were only one amongst many not the only one, 'good piece of business' my arse.
this situation sets precedences that could potentially destroy the finances of many a club in the FL and .............that's 'GOOD' business ?

Who said anything about \"Good\" business, i said business as usual. How does that \"Buisness\" set a precident ?, CCFC are following a precident set by many before them, and many will in the future. Just because DRFC dont go down the same route doesnt make DRFC right and CCFC wrong. and i suggest you look again at what finance CB transfer potentially will generate.

Erm, I think you'll find that yes, DRFC are in fact right in how they manage their finances, and CCFC are in-fact wrong. And the football league are wrong in how they have dealt with such dealings and certain creditors to lose out whilst others get full compensation (eventually).  :S

There are many clubs who persue \"Glory\" in the way CCFC are doing. It doesnt matter which club you look at they all in some way or other are \"Living beyond their means\", thats why Man Utd have debts of 600 million, Liverpool 300 million, etc. Are they wrong to do things the way they are . I think the \"Normal, average fan\", of any club couldnt give a chuff as to how success is achieved. Is that not why we form affiliations to certain clubs, to see and be part of success.
If CCFC gain the sucess they crave, the money they get will certainly irradicate their debts, if they then become a yo yo club does it matter, for years to come they will be financially secure.

Do not DRFC incur debts to directors to the tune of 3 million a year, which means DRFC are in debt to them to tune of 15 million, ok the debt is a share issue debt, so its not as if by anyone pulling out DRFC will be in financial Poo, but it is a debt none the less.

Quite right Hoola. They were making a big issue about selling 1000 extra shirts last week. The profit from that wouldn't cover half of one week of even the fraction of his wages that they are paying.

Of course, if he puts 3000 on the gate every week, the deal makes financial sense. Although, given that last season they were already within 5-6k of selling out the stadium, that'll be a tall order.

Then again if they get to the Premiership, the deal makes even more sense. Although that still leaves the question: why exactly should a Malaysian businessman with no previous connection with football in general or Cardiff in particular have a dream to get them into the Premiership? Unless it is to make a healthey profit for himself, regardless of the long-term health of the club? And it also begs the question of waht happens if they DON'T make it to the Premiership?

Me, I wouldn't swap places with a Cardiff fan, even if they DO take this division by storm this year.

To correct a few points BST
Cardiff actually put over 4k on last Saturdays gate. Bellamy is on £20k a week at Cardiff so that would pay his wages for at least 4 weeks.
As for the Malaysian business people who have invested in the club you could ask the question.
Why would a Russian Billionaire invest in a failing London Club?
Why would American businessmen who know nothing about \"soccer\" invest in Man Utd or Liverpool
Why would an Emirates Sheik invest in Man City.

It goes on and on.

Football as we once knew it is gone. Todays football is totally corrupt.

You say you wouldn't swap places with a Cardiff fan, even if they do take this division by storm, I admire your principles but I'm afraid that most Rovers fans would love the same opportunity to happen at our club.

Can you really see how it will ever change?

Or maybe AK was at Cardiff last saturday(seeing that 2 teams that was believed to be interested in loaning him was playing each other) and after seeing them give us a 4-0 beating thought a loan with Cardiff would give his career a better boost than with us?

AK was on the bench at Goodison Park, Cardiff will be able to pay all his wages where we can't, no brainer for Wolves. Feel the lad however as only swapped one bench for another as soon as Chopra is fit.
