Bore Draw
« on September 18, 2010, 08:59:55 am by Barmby Rover »
A poor match to watch with neither team bothering goalkeepers too much at all.
Leeds had two or three chances on their breakaways, but made damn sure that every time Rovers got the ball there was at least eight men in the last third of the field packing the defence to absolutely ensure they were not going to lose.
Rovers midfield had nowhere to go so often making them move the ball sideways or backwards very often, and then Gradel was there to intercept and lead a small charge forward for three players usually.
Not surprising then that it ended 0-0, write that one off and let's get on to teams with a bit more ambition rather than worry about some two bit team from West Yorkshire.

I have to disagree with you. I don't think it was a boring match at all. Yes, they set their stall out to make sure we didn't put 5 past them, but we got behind their defence on more than a few occasions and created some good chances. They also had some very good chances and should have scored, so how does that make it a bore draw?

Both defences dominant with the occasional breakthrough, not exciting football, but I can see why SOD was pleased with the performance.

I agree with your original post Barmby, but I can't see how O'Driscoll was pleased with the performance last night. Our most complete performance of the season so far according to him, and theres me thinking we created little, the midfield were almost non-existant and only Dumbuya and Martis came away from the game with any credibility. If Somma was more composed in front of goal we'd have been well beaten last night.  The only crumb of comfort is that O'Driscoll hinted at some loanees coming in if the chairman sanctions it!

Its kidology. All of those managers watching on Sky last night are thinking that it'll be easy, if that is as good as we can play.

Of course it's kidology, talk up a mediocre performance and hope they all buy it but I doubt they will.........our reputation as a good side is now cemented in place.
Only a very foolish manager will buy that claptrap and we all know it.

Well I think I must have been at a different keepmoat to the one you were at BR, my finger ends are sore through running out of wine gums and having to chomp me finger ends off, can't believe you missed the passion involved in last night's game. It's not felt as tense as that since 25th May 2008.
