Try half a pint of proper Guiness, it's beautiful. Don't buy a pint though because the bottom half is frickin aweful.
Get ready to be bored to tears with Irish folk singing/dancing.
Get ready to pay well over the odds for a round of drinks.
Make sure you pay attention to the Green Cross Code when crossing as cyclist' or the Police may just clip you.
Get ready to mingle with chavvy Scousers, they're f**kin everywhere in Dublin.

Actually, don't bother going, it's crap.

I`ve been through Dublin from the Ferry terminal to the Belturbet area and furthur North into Enniskillen, If you Don`t like Guinness the local Bitter is Smithwicks, I did n`t like Guinness until I went to Ireland, try it, you`ll be surprised how different it taste`s over there

Best night out I have ever had in Dublin last October!! Temple Bar is awesome!! It is expensive but definitely worth it!! Live bands in loads of pubs and the overall atmosphere is fantastic!!!

Until a couple of years ago I used to go to Dublin 2-3 times a year. Its very expensive but Temple Bar is brilliant. The Guinness defintely tastes better over there and the open top bus tour is good. The pubs and bars around the edges of the city are much cheaper. The people are friendly as well.

Agree with the \"expensive\" part. 11 quid it was for a Pint and a large wine and that was probably September 09

Disagree Guinness tastes better - there. If you dont like it it tastes crap anywhere. I fell for this myth once and needed a bottle of Cider to wash it down in the end.

Smithwicks Bitter is nice and sold in most Pubs.

There are some nice runs out by DART (train) to Howth Head and Malahide etc but you probably dont intend to go to Dublin to take trips out of it !!! The Beer prices do not go down either

I went to Dublin 5 years ago and agree with the above sentiments about it being expensive. £6 for a Guinness. Very friendly too with people always wanting to chat to you in the bars. A place I like, but to get a real feel for Ireland, it is better to go out of the city. I personally travelled to Wexford which is a lovely coastal town and some great scenery en route.
