Golf lessons
« on June 25, 2011, 08:28:47 am by mushRTID »
Can anyone recommend where to go for these?

I know there not cheap so want to get the most out of them.

And are they worth it or is it better to just keep plugging away at it without lessons. Iv heard mixed views on if they are worth doing or not?

thanks

I went to Owston, which I'm a member at and Jason the Pro did me (Niiiice). Good lad too. Not sure that's a good plug as I'm shit.

Most will say Barnby Dun driving range, they film you while you're doing it (Niiiiice).

Personally mate, I would get some basic lessons and then you need to keep plugging away at it and constantly playing either driving range or on course.

When I'm bang at it I can get down to 17-18, but I cannot sustain the commitment, so invariably slip back to a cloggers 25-26 all to easily after laspes in playing.

I look the dogs with my Ping G2's until I swing one of the chuffs.

Top tip, from all the Pro's and older members....'keep yer head darn young-un'

Good Luck

I asked Lyall at Barnby Dun Driving Range about giving my 2 lads some tuition, as I dont want them to pick up the same bad habits I have, and it was quite reasonable.  I think a 10 lesson package was about £80 for the kids.  Maybe adults would be dearer.

Cheers. After googling it seems bawtry may be best priced at £25 for 1 hour.

I'm a member at Bawtry and the pros are very good from what i hear. Loads of the members have lessons with them and between them they should be able to help you out. They also have a couple of clinics and other things for people to learn quickly

The reason why some people say not to have lessons is that you learn the proper way rather than getting by with your old incorrect technique so it takes a lot of effort to get through it.

I'd suggest about 4 or five lessons with lots of practice in between

ask for David Bosa at Kingswood. Best around by miles.

and go for club fitting, £30.

He will stick you on his machine. Awesome piece of kit. Interchangeable shafts and heads to make sure you get the right combo.

Ended up buying the new Taylormade 2 irons instead of the dearer Callaways.

Top tip. You get what you pay for. Dont buy Dunlop from Sports Direct lol

I used to golf many years ago and took lessons initially and they do really make a difference.  Then as I progressed had to take lessons on using the woods because they're longer then the irons and a bit difficult for me.  Used to tee off with my 3 iron.  hee hee!

But ironically, when I stopped playing for awhile I did play better as I forgot my bad habits for a bit.  Haven't played in a long time, but do love it even though I was a bit of a duffer.
