if you read this jr please buy keogh
« on June 30, 2011, 11:44:18 am by redbrez »
would this be classed has mouthwatering and would keogh linking up with sharp be enough fire power to give us a chance of seriously pushing for the top six, we still need a lot of rebuilding but these two upfront with copps behind them could be frightening . speculate to accumulate ? only worrying thing is we are starting the season short of so many players before we have kicked a ball.
do people think this could be a good time to take a gamble and make a serious push for promotion and this would surely tempt people into buying more st? if we bought keogh how much do you think we could get keogh for and hopefully could go on the same budget has billy?

I suspect Wolves would accept around 1 million, just to get rid of his wages, at this moment in time would anyone else in the Champ want him? I suspect someone would. Then there is the wages, he would have to take a pay cut. I would love him to sign for us, maybe a loan would be the better option.

Apparently Southampton had an offer accepted for him but then the negotiations broke down when he wanted £20K a week. I don't think he'd want that much if we went in for him though, Southampton are loaded, so people will obviously demand silly amounts and Billy's here, so we could probably get him for around £10K a week or something like that.

I was just about to start grumbling about Southampton and the money they appear to have to chuck about - my gripe being, how they went into administration, paid x pence in the pound and carry on spending - how ill informed I am / was

Perhaps they should sponsor Keogh to play for us

Let's look at this with a brain.

Keough will cost what?....1 million?

His wages will be what?.....£10,000 a week?....£20,000 a week?

Our season tickets are lumbering around 4,000. The club averaged 10,000 home gates last season. The big three on the board put in around 1 million each last season (If rumour is to be believed, though I do know they all recently put another 500,000 in each).

So, does it make any sense at all to splash money that the business can't honestly afford? If JR or any of the big 3 went the club would go bust in a heartbeat!

If the board want to spend their money on Rovers all well and good, I thank them for it (But WE all pay a bit too don't we). Up to them if they want to spend horrendous amounts of money, chances are they'll never see it again.

Well if the board had that attitude, we would have not signed Billy.

Keough will be on £20,000 a year with another year left on his contract why would he leave Wolves for half that at best. If we used our brains we would see that has Benaldo says. Our Chairman said the manager had a budget large enough to be fighting in the top half of the table. Well he hasnt really we have signed has yet one player and others may be in the pipe line. But we cannot compete really we are shopping at Nettos . John and the board will have fork their money if we are going to get players. We wont be able to compete for a Goal keeper, some on here think we have missed out on Rooney he will be on £10,000 a year at least the manager cannot pay wages like that. The real world is looming the chairman says we need to be fighting in the top half but with injuries already we will be picking from trialist again and potential. But our Centre midfield is bare, our cental defence is bare and we are relying on agoal keeper who is not ready or over the hill.

With a year left on his contract, out of favour with his club for the last 2 years at least, including an indifferent season on loan last year, I'd be very surprised if Wolves were demanding 1 million for him, that seemed to be the fee banded about this time last year and his value must have depreciated since then. I couldn't see the fee being as much of a problem as the wages - they would depend (within reason) on how much he wanted to come here and play football. If he did then I'm sure we could agree a deal at the higher end of our wage structure. If he doesn't want that then he's not the player for us, and would be better taking a leaf out of his mate Billy's book.
