iTunes
« on July 31, 2011, 01:03:05 am by RedJ »
I've just bought another computer, and I've just downloaded iTunes onto it. Do I have to copy all of my files from one computer onto the other, or is there some way of syncing the two without needing to transfer them with a USB drive/iPhone/whatever?

Not too savvy with this kind of thing..

I too am crap on such matters but even worse I managed to do this myself about 18 months ago and cant remember exactly what I did !

I know I searched Google and found lots of different suggestions and in the end I do think I found the solution in I Tunes help.

It was something to do with \"Restoring\" your Library and appears in my I-Tunes as Restored Music. It took minutes only so I hope this \"half\" suggestion helps you to find what you need

Cheers JT

I've done this a few times, but I would suggest that you back it up first. I always have my music and photos on a separate hard drive, you never know!

Thanks to both. I'll take a look at iTunes help DW.

Good suggestion, SM - wouldn't be the first time I'd lost everything..

If you've got them both on a home network you can play tunes stored on one from another. There's a thing called home sharing you can use, but you need them both switched on of course.

Best to just copy them, or just stick the old drive in your new PC?

It depends if youve downloaded the songs off itunes... if you have you, can sign into itunes and re-download the songs again. IF you bought them via itunes.

Copying's probably going to be the best idea, I was just hoping there'd be an easier way to save me time.

No LG'sD, I got them from CDs etc :(

Thanks for suggestions anyway!

Yeah, I looked at that, but I wasn't sure if \"this does not apply to iPod Touch\" also meant iPhones too. I know it may seem a daft assumption to make, but with them being so similar and pretty much most of the things that go for the Touch also goes for the iPhone, wasn't really sure.

Anyway, took me two hours near enough, but just managed to put everything onto the other computer. The amount of stuff I wanted on the new one would've taken even longer to swap via my phone, as there's 4 times the amount of space on my phone that I needed transferring

thanks though :)
