For posting that, you, sir, are nearly as big a legend as David Harle.

Thank you for unearthing that buried treasure. No seen it from that day till this.

Just shows you how you memory plays tricks, I always though Harle's shot bobbled in but that was a sweet strike.

Thought I recognised John Gregory. A better player than manager and just think, Terry Fenwick went on to play against Maradona in the 'hand of god' World Cup finals.

....and I was one of them!!!! (Beleive me, living away for so long, its great to say that)

Met John Buckley in Park Lane after the game.  I was steaming and so I said \"Do you know, you look just like John Buckley\".  I've embarrassed myself many ways before and since.

Great day and I'll settle down tomorrow night for a bit of nostalgiaè

Thanks for posting!

Getting quite late in second half with QPR playing for a draw, a split second immediately before everybody started jumping about!

Apart from Rovers playing in a roverum kit what else is different about the game compared to now ?

The constant noise from the BV crowd.
Great days

The Pop Side were awesome that afternoon, and even the Main Stand crooned off a few bars. Gotta be firm about this though: the quality of both the chants and football has improved over the last 26 years.

It's testament to how towering that win and performance was that - watched again decades on - a scrappy, let's-have-'em cup tie where we bested one of the country's top teams at the time by way of sheer Bremner-esque character rather than on-the-deck finesse, is still THE game many of us often talk about.

fantastic... haven't seen this or recollected this for 25 years... superb :-)

all i remember is being squashed like hell in the kop (when it was it's proper size!)... 10.7k attendance... always thought that was half the real crowd... but looking at the gaps, was i just being optimistic?

Never saw that game and now I have, thank you so much! That was some performance, ripped QPR apart. The work rate and heart put in by our boys was phenomenal. It may not be pretty but that was a great game to watch, proper footy. :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

I was stood at the wall as a cocky 14 year old, right in front of where the players celebrated, near the dug outs.

Brings back fantastic memories of the day, and also of OBV herself.

There were one or two that had upgraded to the luxury of the cowshed, I was bang in the middle of the singers on the popside that day :)

Christ up above, I'd forgotten that the whole world in the 1980s looked like the Ashes to Ashes video.

At half time, to replace the divots, they used to have a thin cockney dressed like a marionette, a ballet dancer, a couple of women dressed as Archbishop Makarios and a big digger.

True, but at least we had a keeper who could kick the f**king ball in a straight line back then.

And that tackle by Ian on 7:50. That were a proper \"What do you want most, the ball or your metatarsals?\" tackle.

Agree there were a few tasty tackles flying in, particularly in the 2nd half.  How often did the red play on!  How many times did a player go down like he was half killed?  They just got on with it.

Some of the puffs who play today should be made to watch.  (Nobody who plays for us mind:whistle: )
