thought the boys were excellent tonight, Tranmere were never in the game, but the old saying you can only beat whats in front of you! good to see browny score and 2 excellent goals by mason and bennett and also a clean sheet! the boys meant business tonight!

Cracking display and nice that more people can see the potential in Bennett, Barnes and a cameo for Baxendale.

Browny from the whistle was running about like a scalded cat. That's the most mobile I've seen him for a long time. Bennett looks a real find and I think Baxendale is a future star too.

I'd like to see the penalty incident again, but after that we worked very hard to create openings and a lovely little move ended up with Mason picking his spot from the edge of the area. (Just so, so gutted for him and for us)

Bennett's goal was a gem after only a few minutes earlier trying to chip the goalie. All players showed up very well Friend, Oster were excellent with Copps, Naylor, Spurr, Gillette and Hird putting in solid performances.

I suppose a plus point on the injury front at least Keegan is back.

Agreed bigbadjack, another solid game from Tommy Spurr tonight - he's been impressive in the two games so far.

Kyle Bennett MOM for me, thought he gave us something different going forward, and although he drifted in and out of the game a bit, some of his tricks/wing play were brilliant. Plus, his goal was a great finish. Shifted it inside and curled it into the far corner.

I know it was against League One opposition, and that West Ham could be a different story on Saturday, but I thought everyone played really well tonight. Huge shame about Mason getting injured as he was excellent - his injury was probably the only negative tonight.

I'm actually struggling to pick a man of the match tonight, they were all that good, so much impressed me about almost everyone on the pitch, and it was nice to see us trying to play it out from the back where ever we could again as well.

As we said pre-season, SOD seems determined to get back to the brand of football we are known for. A couple more showings like this and hopefully we'll get a few more fans back.

These are the sort of comments we love...

\"Donny dismantle Rovers in cup\"

\"The irrepressible Mason drew a fine diving save\"

\"Doncaster encountered no such problems as they showed their Championship class to swat aside Tranmere 3-0 to move into the next round\"

Very impressed with the new boys, and the return of the old boy Browny.

Naylor is a vast improvement on any of the CH's we let go. Spurr looks a steal and adds much needed height in defence in this league. Kyle Bennett is going to be hard to hold onto if he continues in that vein, thought he started slowly but as his confidence grew he started showing us what he's capable of and capped it off with a marvelous goal. Barnes looks like he needs a few games but if we get him and keep him fit, he's another who'll be hard to keep. Baxendale had a little messi dribble at one point (was it him?) and looks like a real find.

Difficult to pick a MotM but I'd go with Jonny boy for controlling the game so well and allowing the others to do the fancy stuff.

All the new boys came out with credit. Bennett MOM for me but agree Tommy Spurr looks a great buy and Naylor and Friend could be a great partnership.

Oster, Gilly and Mason where unplayable in the first half and Browny put himself about.

Agree with the comments about Baxendale, really confident run when he came on and looks a kid with real potential. Love the fact that he's from Donny.

Just what we needed after Saturday (apart from the Mason injury)

Woods 8
Spurr 8
Naylor 8
Friend 8
Hird 7
Oster 9
Coppinger 7
Bennett 9
Mason 8
Gillett 7
Brown 6

Baxendale looked lively.

Thought we were excellent. Can't recall a single aimless punt, or a single misplaced pass. The passing game was not only back, it was looking better than ever. Bennett looks a treasure: fantastic first touch, can turn on a sixpence, he's quick, very tricky, rarely wasted the ball and seemed to react quicker than anyone else on the pitch. Great goal too. Early days but it's not often Coppinger is outshone skillwise, but he was tonight.

Otherwise, Oster was very good too. Lots of shots on goal from all areas of the pitch. Very encouraging all round.
