Oh I do apologise. I hadn't realised that I was in such demand. I can't say I've read anything by \"hoola\", and if I had I would reply to it like I do any other post, if I feel like it. I honestly don't care what you or anyone else think, haven't you grasped that by now?

I have to admit, this forum is getting shitter by the day. It's just turned into two camps of \"Pro Sunders\" or \"Pro SOD and the good ole days\". It's no wonder Rovers can't attract more support with some of the utter drivel being spouted about the current regime. This forum is an advert for Rovers, yet sometimes all it shows are a bunch of idiots bickering about who said what when and what it meant. What pisses me off is that I've been suckered into it from time to time.

For those who can't pick things up easily -

I support the current Rovers management, the board, the players (barring one or two), and the chairman. I don't care about the past, kissing the badge before I go to sleep, I don't own a Rovers car sticker, and if Rovers lose I don't go home and kick the dog. I pay my way and I like to think I've contributed a fair amount of money to Rovers coffers, I don't begrudge that one bit. But I don't go in for all the \"I'm the best fan\" \"I've been watching Rovers since 1899\" \"I sing therefore I am\" ir any other cliched clap trap that comes along with being a football fan. It's just something to do on a Saturday afternoon. I've never been thrown out of any ground for \"being drunk, or wearing a suit\" or for anything else for that matter. I come to the KM, have a meal, watch the footy, then drive back home to the Peak district national park, where I forget all about it as one of lifes simple pleasures.... Until I look on here.....which I won't be doing from now on.Thank you and goodnight.

I hate you Benaldo! I had decided to take a sabatical from posting for a while until we have a much clearer picture of where the bright new dawn is taking us, but you and Wellred are completely impossible to ignore.

How come it has to be your way or the highway all the time, eh? Always right. Never wrong and don't anyone dare contradict you.

It's all well and good you complaining about drivel on the forum, which pretty much seems to mean anyone with a different viewpoint to yours, but if this site is full of drivel, just remind us again which two posters have contributed over 3,000 posts...?

That hardly supports your claim to being 'suckered into it from time to time'. That's a bloody career.

For benaldo to claim he goes home to the peaks and is at peace with the world whether we win draw or get hammered is clearly complete nonsense. He must spend hours each day on here. Fool.

As do those supposedly 'shedding tears ' benaldo. There is no contradiction in following and supporting fully the new manager whilst giving due respect to the previous manager or am I missing something here ?
Do you have to be disparaging about SO'D to show your support for DS ? Sorry that doesn't make any sense at all as usual benny boy. Please don't seek to justify your opinion against those who disagree with you and have some respect for an ex-manager by implying they don't support the new incumbent. Again that's largely an unsubstantiated argument and you know it.
I hope you can reply properly when you return from the monastery you have disappeared to. As always you and every member of this forum is entitled to his/her opinions but back it up or you will get shot down in flames. :headbang:

I might have guessed that wabtec, Benaldo and BFYP wouldn't miss the chance to dance on the grave of the most successful manager we've had in my lifetime. (And no, I'm not going to go over whether he should have been sacked or not, it has happened, we move on.)

I think he will get a job soon and when he does a few people on here will be in for a shock. He was poorly treated by Portsmouth who kept him on the back-burner. A pity, because he'd have been a better bet than a managerial novice.

Did I say anything out of line?

I thought it was a fair point to be honest and that is how I see it.  He doesn't strike me as one who will say the right things, he's far too opinionated for that, anyone who listened to his interviews over his years here will surely realise that.  Like it or not football chairmen don't often like managers who say it as it is.

I also don't think it's an invalid topic to discuss, the guy was here for years so there will inevitably be an interest in wherever he goes next.  You could now ask the same question of Penney, where is his career going?  The thread title is pathetic although many did call him that all the way through sadly.

But the point still stands for me, maybe, just maybe there was a reason why other clubs never seriosuly went after him when he was with us and maybe that reason still stands?  If a club had wanted him they'd have got him, simple as that.

Im with you on this one mate. Your spot on. You only have to look at Brian Laws Vs Sean for the Burnley job. Barring compensation, you can imagine how each interview went. Laws would have been like an excitable dog, full of ideas, Sean would have said his piece. Track records notwithstanding, Laws would have seemed like the candidate that could have breathed some fresh ideas into a Burnley team who were struggling at the time.

Its a fair point BFYP. Think you have been misinterpreted. Sean was brilliant here but things needed to be changed. It doesnt make him a bad manager. Same happened to Martin Jol, Rafa Benitez. Unfortunately, talent is only one of many ingredients to long term success in football management.

Let me get this straight on last time? You make a point of forum members crying over SOD, and agree that this thread is pointless, but when I mention that Hoola wrote a very good reply to you earlier and some of us are awaiting a reply you feel the need to write this?

Firstly, no one (well I never accused you of being any less a fan than I or anyone else am just because we differ on opinions, however you do feel the need on countless occassions to challenge someone's beleif as a Rover just because they may choose to stand up or shout in a match, or refuse to jump on the bandwagon that some of us believe could be a one way ticket up the shit creek.

As you imply above, everyone has their own 'routine' some may follow suit to what you do, some may go and try and have a fight afterwords, some may take their children, sit down in the cold and leave ten minutes early because the kids want to watch Doctor who, some may stand up and sing all game, and some of us may even decide \"you know what, it's a saturday, I'm 18, I'm legal to drink, im watching my faviourite sport and my faviourite team, I may live to regret it later but I only live once, so f**k it, I'll have a few pints\".

Not saying I haven't made me mistakes, because I have. But I like you have spent money on Rovers, I borrowed from family, scraped the barrell and spent EMA money I never received just to try and make sure that every saturday I was there giving the boys my support and I'll be dammed by anyone who says different, because thats what I did, show my support, irrespective of what may have happened, I was ejected from two grounds, and both ejections have had countless threads on here posted questioning whether the stewards were in the right.

Again benaldo and one last time; you continually begrudge others and question their loyalties to the club when they don't veiw eye to eye with you, but the darn second someone questions your beliefs you write that bag of shite above? You are a hypocritical, proctalagial microphaullus.

Like a few on here i dont want to reply to pointless thread but hey ho.....

Subject header summed up the direction of travel for the thread.

SOD wasnt camera friendly but he got teams playing wonderful football and dont forget he managed it whilst some pretty damn players got sold on.

I did like Penney's \"red arrows\" football and was dissapointed that we had to move on but he had his place with the Ryan-Foster-Mcindoe generation and i'll remember SOD as the Stock-Wellens-Mills-Hayter generation.

Saunders...we'll see.

RTID

ps......i did genuinely enjoy TOTAL FOOTBALL but, eventually recognised that we need to WIN as well !

BFYP- I apologise if I incorrectly accused you of indulging in SO'D-bashing. I can see what you are saying- he isn't media-friendly and he'll tell the chairman the way he sees things. Personally I think those traits are rather admirable in a modern football manager, but I can see they aren't to everybody's taste.

Re the Burnley job. My understanding is that the job was his until the issue of compo came up, even though he'd told the Burnley chairman that their training facilities were not a patch on those at Donny!

You're certainly ODD, regardless of your size.

Remember The Millenium, Wembley?

Shameful thread. You need a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
