stewards with cameras in their hats
« on December 21, 2011, 07:19:21 pm by not on facebook »
will be present and on duty at the spurs v chelsea game this week.

is this a good thing for crowds at football or a bad thing?

i think it will give the stewards a sense of more power for the first few times they use it.

You`re already filmed whilst@footy games via club security cameras. The footage from the Stewards with cameras in their hats would I assume form part of this same system IE footage only used in the event of an incident occurring and a prosecution pending or a safety issue being reviewed/resolved. My opinion is who cares, if you`ve done nowt wrong, you`ve nothing to worry about.

NB I have no idea how long clubs hold on to crowd footage filmed at matches.

Perhaps fans shouldl allay their fears by staying away. See this week at rovers we all need to stop bullying as well as racism domestic violence homophobia etc etc..

Why? It'll be recording what they see and how they react to it too. Any legal proceedings arising and the recordings will be subpoenaed ASAP.

I think you probably are entitled to request it....unless it's been sanctioned and \"owned\" by the police. If you think about it, the cctv guys are recording people every match, ditto the coppers (orange jacket EG coppers). They must video all shapes, sizes, ages, races, genders, and I would suggest that it's done within the law with a clear purpose of deterring (and/or catching) troublemakers.

The thing about stewards wearing cameras is a good thing I think. How many of them will sharpen up their act when they know the boss could be watching their performances back later verbatum??!

\"unless it's been sanctioned and \"owned\" by the police.\" Irrelevant.

You have the right to see CCTV images of you and to ask for a copy of them. The organisation must provide them within 40 calendar days of your request, and you may be asked to pay a fee of up to £10 (this is the maximum charge, set by Parliament). This is called a Subject Access Request. You will need to provide details to help the operator to establish your identity as the person in the pictures, and to help them find the images on their system.

Yes of course you can and under the FOI act nobody can hang on to anything. This is a quote (not verbatim) from the Information Commissioners Office;

.ICO say clubs need to ensure ppl know in use & why, unlikely to be able to pick up conversations or individuals unless exceptionally loud. Data collected may be used for apprehension and proseuction. Data must be processed in accordance with DPA. ICO happy to address any indivual concerns.

I think you'll find it's totally relevant! Try asking your local police force for any photo's, information, video of you and see where you get!

Are we to assume they will use the cameras to report foul and abusive language from players towards the referees including the fourth official?

Errr maybe not.

Benny,

Here we go again. We've done it on numerous occasions and always been successful. We make a point of doing this before any complaint gets to the Football Ombudsman, PL or FL.

Back to the original point I couldn't care less.  They could watch me with a camera for 90 minutes if they wanted, in fact they could follow me around in helicopters and with sattelites but they'd get very, very bored.  I don't see a problem with it, but geez what a waste of time and money.
