I thought Barnes did well in places but wasted a couple of spells of possession. All the same you are largely right about his performance.Chimbonda was my man of the match although Ikeme did make several top class saves. Diouf did well but didn't deserve man of the match and i have to say fully merited his yellow card for diving in injury time. There's no need for that.
Spurr for me, followed by Hird and Gillett.
To be fair, EHD was tireless tonight, and probably covered every blade of grass. Twice.I've no complaints with him getting the MoM award. Worked very hard for the side, and was instrumental in most attacks (and got back and defended)
Freddie Piquionne got the MOM vote in the Premier Club. Not sure i agreed with that.
All had a shout for MoM to be fair.....but like some have alluded to, it was Gilly's best game in a long while and he was the boss out there last night. Simon and Giles are really starting to have an impact in a very important area of the battlefield in our recent games, and if they carry on in this vain we will be in with a very good shout.
Hirdy did a great job on Jason Roberts (who many regard as the catalyst for Readings recent superb run) & kept him quiet for most ofthe game.
QuoteHirdy did a great job on Jason Roberts (who many regard as the catalyst for Readings recent superb run) & kept him quiet for most ofthe game.Agree with that. Didn't fall in to the trap of trying to out muscle him and did what he does best and used his noggin.Good overall performances. Spurr put some excellent tackles in and Chimbonda, Gillett, Barnes and Bennett seem to be improving just at the right time. Of course having a class keeper makes a world of difference even though he was just as bamboozled with Harte's corners as the rest.Interesting and refreshing to hear Saunders take some 'blame' for swapping around the markers at corners at half-time.
