Binge Drinking
« on March 24, 2012, 01:13:09 pm by CusworthRovers »
What a bloody con this is.

Let's bang some more money on beer and cream it off for our brewery benefactors and ourselves, and then let's blame the so called low life binge drinkers that are draining our emergency services and welfare state.

Even if it is a minority of 1% of the population, why should 99% suffer who can drink sensibly. It really boils my piss.

I've got 99 problems, but a bitch aint one.

Yes, it's a blatant tax rise hidden behind a real, but very much minority cause. Let's not forget the 2.5% VAT rise they had 'no plans for' before the election, and the 3p going on fuel in August they quietly slipped in which, coupled with weekly fuel price rises and the related haulage costs of getting goods into the shops is going to cost us dear. They won't be happy until people can't afford to use their cars, can't afford a drink, and people stop buying anything other than essentials. Great economy plan, that.

Previously obtained (though small) bonuses at work are now completely unachievable due to people spending far less, and all I've had otherwise is 2% in 5 years. For the first time I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to be able to afford Rovers for much longer.

But, as multi-millionaire Cameron tells us - we're all in this together.

Happy days.

At least we've all benefitted from the cut in high rate tax from 50 to 45%, haven't we? Surely we're all earning above £150k per year.
Lovely creatures these tories, yet some still come on here & defend them.

I'm sure they live in a different world, how many people do you know who give up smoking/drinking because the price has gone up?

My ex husband was a smoker and believe you me, he always found the money for his cigarettes whether or not we had enough money for food. Considering he was downright mean when he didnt have any I wasn't about to argue.

I'd hazard a guess that if you wrote that list out at least 94 of them would contain the words Internet History, Erectile Dysfunction or Ladyboy. Be honest. Am I right?

There was something in one of the papers today that they reckoned this minimum pricing crap could be illegal to EU laws, can't remember which one though,

Companys can be done for price fixing so why not Governments!!  because thats all it really boils down to

I have to say I don't understand the whole binge drinking thing.. I can't think of anything worse than not being in control of myself..the whole feeling dizzy and sick is just grim..I don't like the way people don't seem to think they have had a good evening out unless they are absolutely hammered. How is that enjoyable?

There is nothing wrong with going out and having a drink, but why do some people seem to think it is their duty to drain a bar dry?

Something does need to be done about the booze culture in this country, it is getting out of control. but if they are targeting the binge drinkers then they need to be looking at the offers in he clubs and bars, if some one is binge drinking in their own home they are a lot less trouble than the drunken pub goers rolling around the town centers at chucking out time.

To be perfectly harsh, I think if you get hauled off to A&E with a binge drinking related ailment you should be charged for treatment..( BY that I don't mean the alcoholics, that is a different thing all together)

The resources wasted on policing and tending the swathes of drunks could be put to much better uses.

As I am forever telling my friend Joyce, if you need booze as a prop to enjoy going out, if you can't go out without needing to be hammered,  then there is something wrong.
