problems with a micro SD card
« on May 16, 2012, 04:53:30 pm by RedJ »
Right, I have a micro SD card (as the title may suggest) for my BlackBerry 8520, and it works fine while in the phone - all my downloads from tubidy, photos, videos etc go right onto the card and the phone shows it in the device memory and everything.

What I want to know is why will my computer simply refuse to detect it? I've tried going down the USB route; it only shows the phone itself's memory. Tried using a card reader - just not having it.

What card reader are you using? an SD or USB?

Is it reading the card at all?

I had this problem with my work Blackberry. Turned out the SD Card reader that the Micro SD slotted into had a flimsy lock switch at the side so when it loaded up I couldn't do anything at all with it.

That is one of the common causes, people don't realize that it is a simple solution. Much easier to use USB, SD size card readers fall apart really easily too. I broke one just trying to 'unlock it'.

Is it locking as you insert it into the laptop? Like I say, mine dies that all the time and it often takes 7 or 8 attempts before it goes in without catching the switch

I put the catch thing down that you do to lock the micro SD in place, but even then it doesn't show it

I tried using it through my phone again via the USB cable but it just tells me after about how many attempts to get it to show up that it's installing something then that that's failed
