My take on tonight's trials
« on October 09, 2012, 11:29:51 pm by Mr1Croft »
7:00 kick off

Not sure what to think of this, it was quite a rush between getting to the beefeaters for half 5 and then leaving at what seemed early. But after having a hour in there after the game I looked at my watch and was quite relieved it was only 10pm. But it looks like quite a few missed out because of work etc., however there seemed to be a boost in children in attendance.

Cash Turnstyle

Seemed to work quite well in my opinion, the staff were quick and seemed more than happy collecting cash. I went in at 6:50 and it was less busy than normal ticketing matches. This again may be down to the attendance but still it was just as quick as having a ticket ripped.

Unreserved section

Again possibly a success, there were no problems I saw regarding overcrowding at the top, or stewards telling everyone to sit down, those that stood made sure they were in a suitable position to do so at the back. Again though this could be down to the attendance being well below capacity.

Singing section

I think that if there wasn't a singing section tonight and everyone who formed it were spread out then I don't think as much noise would have been made. There were times when it was quiet but considering that not much was happening on the pitch and being a Tuesday night in a less appealing match I think it can be considered a success. A huge pat on the back to the drummer for trying continuously to keep the atmosphere going. I don't personally like the drum and think the atmosphere should be allowed to flow through the crowd and not be controlled by a drum but tonight he did a brilliant job.

All in all I think it was a great night, and one of the better home games for me in a long while. Good atmosphere, a high tempo match and a late (ish) winner. Well done Rovers!

I've not been tonight as I'm on nights and start at 7 so no matter what time the kick off was I couldn't have gone. I think the 2 best ideas from this are the cash turnstiles and unallocated seating, and I hope that these are seen to be a success so we have them at future games. I haven't got a season ticket anymore and live outside of Doncaster so have to just pick up my ticket on the day when I attend, and the queues at the ticket office can be a pain. I also go on my own most of the time and just sit where I want, but it would be nice if I was officially in an unallocated seat rather than spending the first 5 minutes thinking 'I hope this isn't someone's seat'!

In my opinion it would be good to get cash turnstiles open at every game, leaving the ticket office free to sell tickets for future games, home and away.

I find it somewhat ironic that after all the work the VSC has put in to get a "Rovers" bar at the Keepmoat, one of its directors does his drinking elsewhere?

I am the same, former STH who attends irregularly.  I buy my ticket over the phone and collect at South Stand Reception, or queue at the TO.  Either way, the individual ticket has a row and seat number on it, so as long as I sit in that seat, I won't be worrying if it is anyone elses.

Sit in the seat in the ticket, then once the game has started after a few minutes, by all means move to a different seat IMHO.

I am not a fan of 7pm but that's just for my selfish reasons....For those of us who dont live in Doncaster itself it make's things hard...To finish work, get home, see the kids, tea wash and change and get to the match is just not possible for 7pm...
However that said,if it means the kids can go see the Rovers for a night match i'm happy enough to miss the odd jpt game....

I am a fan of the 7:00 ko as I finish work in town at either 5/6:00, now I either hang around town  until 7:45 ko and get home some 14 hrs after starting work at 8:30 or with the earlier ko  have the chance to spend some time with the folk at home before everyone is in bed .
Last night seemed to keep the whole family happy and stopped the moaning and groaning about whether I shoild have not gone in the 1st. place because I looked/sounded shattered. A big thumbs up from me but I appreciate everyone has different circumstances.

Didn't like the time, it was too much of a rush for me not working in Doncaster getting back after work.

The unreserved POG idea was very easy walked up paid, walked in sat down no problem.  It's not difficult really is it?

Firstly it is about giving people a choice, not forcing them to drink at the Rovers.
Secondly I only drink coffee or coke. At the Beefeaters and the Cheswolds it is cheaper and soft drinks are unlimited refills so it normally costs me under a fiver to have a drink before and after. I also smoke and can take my drink outside while I do so. I also get something to eat before the match, sometimes at the Beefeaters, Cheswolds, Macdonalds, Dominos, pizza hut, kfc; do you find that ironic that it isn't at the KM? Sometimes my Rovers Shirt is left at home and instead I wear a Gio Goi one, does that infuriate you? I will drink where I please, its none of your concern.

I am not concerned what you do or where you do it.
I am impressed you are such a good director doing everything for the benefit of others and not yourself. Very admirable.

I must admit that if the changes that the In Rovers We Trust project continue to make the Belle Vue Bar more appealling then there may be a time in the near future when I do start going there. Being part of a group its harder to try and convince them all to go to the BV bar, but currently (despite me trying to convince them) other places tick the boxes to enjoy pre match.

I have the same issues with the BV bar in that I want to drink there before the game, and in every season at the KM so far, I've managed to persuade my friends to go until, after a few visit I get out-voted and we have our pre-match elsewhere.

At the moment however, we can grumble at the £3.40 per pint but the £2.50 virtual pint bottle is good value.  From time to time there will be issues with waiting to be served so it wouldn't take too much to be a victim of it's own success.

However, as S_M, and the club have indicated in the longer term, if the concourses can be made in to more attractive environments to socialise in then we hope more people will spend more time and money pre-match at the stadium rather than elsewhere.

Thanks Baz,

I know that the Spotless people are having new designs for the concourse concessions done right now and I've asked if we can have them on here as soon as. I'm sure the club will put them on DROS as well, but we can comment on them here too. It does take time, but we are going in the right direction.
