Paul Keegan
« on February 23, 2013, 08:28:32 pm by Bessie Red »
Thought he made a massive difference today in the way we played compared to recent performances.
He broke up play well and gave the ball to our playmakers as soon as possible. He is essential to the way we play & was my MOM today.
We look so much better when he is in the team. I believe he has found his level in League 1 as to be fair he was out of his depthin the Championship. Welcome back Keegs!!

My MotM as well, one of the best games he's had for us to be sure (to be sure).

Always rated him. Him and Quinny was the best two players today.

Did everything you could ask him to today. I don't think it's a coincidence that as soon as he's back in the side we start playing well.

It just goes to show,take the unsung heroes of the team,out of the side,the better players don't perform as well,then they are appreciated for the job they do,it's not just our clubs fans,most teams ''Holding midfielder's'' don't get the recognition,to win a title you need a mix of what Keegan provides,getting the ball giving it to the better players,and filling in when the centre-halfs want to go forward,plus you need youth&experience,skill,ability to finish your chances,and a squad togetherness,that is filled with dogged determination,the only thing we are really missing from that collection of attributes is the ability to finish our chances consistently,hopefully with Hume coming back and hopefully a loan striker to come in,that will sort the problem out.

Keegan's now on nine bookings and one more means he'll be missing for 2 games. On today's showing we can ill afford to lose him.

Don`t the bookings get wiped off around this point in the season?

Good point actually. They're wiped on NYD. Same will go for Cotterill then.

They're not wiped off, it is just that if a player receives a fifth yellow after 1st Jan they won't get a one-game ban (Paul Quinn is on 6, but his last two were gained after 1st Jan so he hasn't had a suspension).

I believe the cut-off for 10 yellows (which leads to a 2 game ban) is the second Sunday in April- i.e. 14th April- though it may be slightly earlier this year.

The situation is explained here;

Jones and Cotts are close to a ban as well. The timing of Martis departure is unfortunate from that point of view.

How many of Cotts yellows have been for something irrelevant, ie, not necessary to take one for the team?

He's had at least 3 for dissent and one for taking his shirt off that I remember.
