http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9931908/Iain-Duncan-Smith-attacks-BBC-over-its-coverage-of-welfare-reforms.html

here`s a little extract from that link

Quote
In a letter to Fran Unsworth, the acting head of BBC News, which was leaked to The Daily Mail, Mr Duncan Smith said the corporation is “failing” in its duty to “inform the public”.

“The BBC has a duty to inform the public,” he wrote. “We believe that the BBC is failing in this duty and confusing members of the public

Is n`t it a shame that these high principles that the Tory`s now promote, were n`t used during 1984 and the Miners Strike when the BBC were used by the Tory`s to promote Tory fed propaganda, bas**rds the lot of em!

Oh the Beeb is definately failing in its duty to inform the public on this issue... Finding any comments on the bedroom tax on the BBC is hard enough but I guess in IDS's world where he sees everything backwards it seems like that is all they go on about.
I would say, as usual that the BBC is doing the governments dirty work extremely well.
 its sickening.

I believe that the bedroom tax was covered on an article on the One Show earlier this week on BBC 1?

Oh goody SWRover :) Peak viewing then. A more execrable programme I find it hard to imagine.

The bloke interviewing Maria must have got some dirty great splinters up his arse, it was so firmly jammed down on the fence.. Melvyn Bragg was great tho, he totally put him in his place.

Agreed, it is a god awful show but it did cover the topic to a degree nevertheless.  If you really wanted to know the ins and outs of an issue, you would be pretty daft to rely on one channel's coverage anyway.

Really interesting statement by IDS considering I attended a meeting with Yvette Cooper in attendance last night where she claims that Labour are desperately trying to put their point of view across on issue such as the bedroom tax and welfare reform and they are being told by the BBC that the coalition are telling the BBC not to give Labour a platform to challenge these issues, especially locally, which the BBC shamefully is adhering to.

The real interesting point to come out of the meeting was a report from a Unite the Union community campaigner from Leeds who claimed that if people who lose 14% of their housing benefit for one spare room or 25% for two, simply refuse to pay rent in council properties because of their inability to pay because of benefit cuts, Leeds council would be looking at costs of around £17 million for the full procedure of evicting residents, re-homing, and refurbishing and re-letting these under occupied properties. Money they simply haven't got. The advice to anyone affected is to stick up the middle finger & stay put, because if everyone did the same country wide, this policy would fall flat on its arse because its not affordable...oh the irony! This bedroom tax will probably be the biggest u-turn yet, providing people have the courage to tell em to stick it.
