Finlands Flag has Red in it ?

Did I miss summat ?

On National Lottery Its on the List "starring" Nick Knowles last night there seemed to be an error

I am sure that the question was name any Flags of the World that contain Red (I was not really watching as I had visitors). Anyway the Contestants went for naming 15 - and their answers included Australia and New Zealand

They got to 14 and ventured "Finland" which alerted me as I then said oops you have b*****d that up as I KNOW it is Blue Cross White background

Could not believe it when Nicko eventually got round to saying "Its on the List" !!! They then went for Germany and were correct. I cant believe that I misheard the question nor can I believe Finlands Flag has red in it

Have the Beeb or me gone mad ?

There are several threads elsewhere on this (as found on Google)

They are saying the Flag which you have displayed above is apparently only flown at the Parliament and is NOT (obviously) the "real" and recognised Flag of Suomi or Finland

I have got to my age recognising the White and Powder blue as the real deal



Incidentally I did meet a Finnish young lady in Tenerife on a New Years Day as the fireworks were going off just after Midnight. She said she was from Finland so to impress her I said Suomi and she said yes

I then said I come from England to which she replied (and I am not joking) Ahh Maggie Thatcher .... cant stand her she is a COW !

So even they knew !

I guess it is the same as asking, name a country's flag that has an animal on it, and coming up with the three lions of England. Of course our offical country flag is the cross of St George, but the Royal Standard - the flag of the ruler of the country - includes the three lions.
