To those who went yesterday

Flynn says is was a worst performance for 3 months.

It was littered with mistakes.

However the stats say we had 16 shots away which not too shabby.

Was Flynn being little harsh?

I'd like to know what he has been smoking if he thought that was worse than Crawley.

It was far from our best but no way was it our worst, the worrying thing for me was that it looked like Crewe wanted the win more than we did, perhaps with us being top of the league other teams are going all out to knock us off it.

I was not there yesterday but I cant believe it was any worse than Crawley ! That was so dire I covered my Shirt up in a Bar in Fuerteventura (in shame - even though it says Rovers til I die on the back)

I was there and I thought we did ok, made loads of goal scoring attempts  and could have won by a bigger margin. I don't know what Brian was on about there, of he thought that was worse than Crawley he must be on summat.

It was certainly an improvement on the last three away games I've seen- Bury, MK and Coventry. Also light years better than that farce at Crawley.

We started slowly, which seems to be a problem with us at the moment, but by the interval we were well on top and creating chances. Hume was twice foiled by the 'keeper and Brown failed to connect with a header when he should have done better.

We started the second half OK and then gave away a poor goal. Hume lost the ball in a poor position, but the defence was split too easily by one pass and we were behind. I wasn't sure if Paynter for Hume was the right change, but to be fair it worked like a charm because Paynter played like a man possessed for 10 minutes. Maybe working off all the frustration of warming the bench in the last few weeks when we've hardly been scoring loads of goals.

Then we did our usual- started to sit deep instead of going to finish Crewe off- a third could have opened the floodgates because they were on the ropes- and we almost paid when they missed a sitter with five minutes left.

It wasn't a bad performance- it just contained so many of the elements I find frustrating about our play. But I can see Flynn's psychology here- build them up after a loss and bring them down to earth after a victory. He probably realises we'll have to play much better than that if we need to win at Brentford in a fortnight.

could flynn be playing mind games with the players prehaps? to ensure that we put in the perfomances for the final two games . i thought we were ok yesterday though we did make hard work out of it at times imo

That's what I think too.

We did give the ball away a bit, and didn't look as tight as against Swindon for example, and Crewe did look like scoring.  However, I think we took a few more risks, and were more positive going forward.  It made for a more exciting and entertaining game to watch.

Maybe BF just wants us to go up a gear and secure the next win?

I thought yesterday was pretty good tbh. We knocked it about fairly well and created chances from open play and set pieces. Had we got the first goal (which we easily should have) I think we'd have gone on to win comfortably (deja vu!). All 3 strikers offered something, Jones and McCombe were solid. If I had to be picky and find a fault I'd say we got caught a few times with all 4 midfielders too far up the pitch and Crewe's tall attacking midfielder exploited that space well. At 2-1 up we didn't shut it up as well as we did earlier in the season but the positives far outweight the negatives and I certainly think we've played worse in the last month than that.

McCombe has been our star man over the last few months.

I felt a lot better once Chocks Away was taken off. He looked a good all round player and was starting to annoy me. Is that lad an Arsenal youngster?

Yep. Caused us quite a few problems in the reverse fixture too, as I remember.
