When ever I think of Billy Paynter the old 70's Mick Ronson single Billy Porter always comes to mind and I sing along singing Billy Paynter in stead of Billy Porter.

Im not a fan, Ronson trying to sing like Bowie. He should just stick to the licks.

There was a local band in the 70's called Bitter Suite, who were brilliant.

They used to song Billy Porter. Great song.

Bitter Suite, one of my favourite club bands from the 70's. I loved it when they had the brass section, doing songs from Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Chicago, and as you say Tommy Toes, a great band, with Barry Marshall up front doing a fantastic job on vocals. One of the most talented front men never to have made it I have seen. And yes, they did a great job of Billy Porter as well.  :clapping: :clapping:

Yes, I remember Bitter Suite playing at the Yarborough. Anyone remember a group called Limelight from around the same time. They were even better.....

There was a group that once played The White Hart in Gods Country. Can't remember their name, but they were a bit New Wave, but around the time of the New Romantic boom. Not sure if these were them, but they did Billy Porter and did it well and a quicker version.

They looked good enough to take on the big 'pub circuit' group of the day.......The Uncool Dance Band

Useless bit of information - Someone from the Gents used to live in the same street as me.

Used to love their version of shout. Got many school discos rocking in the mid 80's.
