Which way is the best way to go in car ? Auto route shows cross country or would m62 then m6 be a better option for speed ? Just wondered from those who travel a lot cheers  :scarf:

Try the A628? been that way a couple of times, about the same time as other routes but seems less going out of your way.

From donny down to stoke and then up the a500 to the m6 and straight over, don't bother with m62 50 mph speed limit for about -'10 mile between Leeds and Huddersfield

Or the more scenic way is into Sheffield and up the Park Way to the Ring Road. Head for Calver, Stony Middleton then onto Buxton. Buxton to Congleton on the A54 and into Sandbach. Onto Crewe arriving 2 hours later on a good run or 2 1/2 hours on a bad one. Do it twice a week.

kin 'ell lad, what happened to self-reliance?

You must have some vague idea where Crewe is? West of Donny. East of Wales. About the same latitude.

Set off in the car. Drive west. If you see signs for Crewe, follow them. If you get to a place where they say "Yakki Daa", turn round and head back east.

Easy.

I would say the best way to go by car is on the road.

As you approach the ground there is a big roundabout with a vw garage nearby. There is a signpost to the right for away supporters on street parking on a nearby industrial estate.

I spent my Uni years in Crewe (yep there is one there - it's now part of Manchester Met, but used to be a very highly regarded college for Sports and Eduction) - Nice snatch Nudga? You sound surprised Nudga -  Plenty of nice girls around Crewe!

We alaways used to go (following the signs for) Chesterfield, Buxton, Bakewell, Congleton, Sandbach and Crewe - was a lovely route over the tops and pretty easy too! Used to take a couple of hours + drive then but we were in a left-hand Drive Leyland DAF Sherpa Minibus!

That's a great route if you've got the time.

It's the only town in England where main roads in are banned by local by-law.  Best bet is to put your car on BR Motorail at Conisbrough station then catch the train, changing in Manchester.

Good call Stan. Another alternative is the air balloon station at Bakewell, They fly straight to the ground from there.

I forgot about the Bakewell Balloon, Wilts, another good call if there's a prevailing easterly blowing.  Also, is the secret tunnel from underneath the racecourse grandstand in Uttoxeter still in operation, do you know?  That would be particularly handy as it comes out just by one of the Gresty Road corner flags.

Yer gret jessie. There's nowt wrong wi that last 10 mins. The road from Sandbach is a piece of piss. You want to try some of the roads that Standanista has traversed in the Andes while off his tits on Bolivian Marching Powder.
