It's a Big Day in the North
« on April 20, 2013, 10:14:23 am by Standanista »
Train booked, match tickets in hand, whippet groomed and in a freshly-laundered red and white hooped tartan coat, sarnies packed, flask filled, rattle greased, packet of Woodbines top pocket, COME ON YOU REDS!  Just have to remember that we now play at the Keepmoat.

The flat cap blew off last night as I looked upward to see the sign in the sky that we're gonna win today, the Doncaster Star.

Some great days and some not so great days among them - here's to another one or two of the great days!

Enjoy all - it's great being a Rover!

Oh how you took me back graingrover, why don't people wear rosettes any more.  As a kid in  Intake I had two ways to get to Belle Vue, up Shaftesbury and across the fire station field and the walking on the wall in front of the old Deaf school, or,  across the racecourse to Bawtry Road.

Rattle in hand, money to get in and some spare to buy my red and white roseette, Happy days.

Newyorkyankee.. I used often to take a tennis ball in my pocket too and after the game run with it at my feet pretending I was Bert Tindill .. all the way up the avenue from Belle Vue to the bus terminus at Christ Church. Memories that tie us to our club from the days we were in short trousers till ... well forever.

Well, shirt's on. A strange calm before the storm but we're ready. It's off to the Keepmoat we go.

Enjoy folks!

Yes graingerover, I often wonder if kids today will have the same kind of memories, they take you back to calmer days when kids were kids and we looked forward to Saturdays and the Rovers, and then getting home for the results and Dr Who.
