Season ticket idea
« on May 16, 2013, 03:32:28 pm by Bentley Bullet »
Every home league game draw a seat number out. The person who has that designated seat wins £500.

If the seat number drawn out is not designated to a season ticket holder, its occupant for that game wins £300.

If an undesignated seat number is drawn out, and is unoccupied, the money is rolled over.

If a seat belonging to a season ticket holder is drawn out, the holder gets the prize whether he is in attendance or not.

I calculate this would cost about the equivalent of 30 season tickets a season. Perhaps its appeal would be in excess of this?

not sure it would encourage people to sign up for a season ticket if they have a chance of winning money without a season ticket?

I agree with Rob, maybe a draw just for season ticket holders?

I also think a £500 prize is a bit steep, while obviously very good for the winner, it's a lot of money for the club to be giving away over the course of 23 games. Maybe just a £50 or £100 prize, or a club shop voucher or something would be more do-able and still appeal to people.

It might encourage people to pay on the day. People who pay without a season ticket put more coffers into the club anyway, and it might temp a few more to pay on the day.

Then if they attended more often they would probably decide a season ticket was the best option.

  23x500= £11500 About 30 season tickets.

Or if they get drawn out they can have a go at some kind of challenge at half time to win a prize.

Ideas such as kick a ball into the boot of a car, or get a big mat that can be laid out and is split into segments with a different prize in each segment. The winner of the draw gets a chance to kick a ball to the mat and what ever segment it lands in, they win that prize. You could have one segment (the smallest) with £1000 and then things like a replica shirt, £50, football, training top (that don't cost that much) in the other segments.

It's likely that people will either miss the mat and get nothing or land on one of the cheaper prizes. The £1000 might get won once a season.

You could even have a 'boobie' prize of a Scunthorpe shirt in there.

Not everyone likes to be in the spotlight, though. There would be people NOT wanting to be drawn out for that very reason. I understand your reasoning, though.

Not forgetting of course there a quite a few of us who aren't capable of kicking a ball! And on a more serious note, what if someone disabled won it?

They would have say five minutes to make their way to a steward who would take them to the 'game' if they didnt want to be in the spotlight they just don't claim it and another ticket is drawn out. If that one isnt claimed then no one takes part that week.

If a disabled person won then they could kick it if possible, if not they could be allowed to throw it. If neither are possible they could ask someone who is with them to accompany them down and take on their behalf.

I don't think it would be in very good taste and somewhat macabre to witness a steward escorting (carrying?) the 'lucky' disabled winner down the steps onto the pitch.

I can see it now, someone poor bloke paralyzed from the neck down  being encouraged to 'head' the ball onto the target!   ;)

The idea in essence is a good one though. More likely to win on it than things we've done in the past too.

Maybe the winner can nominate one of the team to do it for them, and get to meet the player as well??  The prizes could be smaller cos you get to meet one of your heroes and a chance to win some cash??
Just a thought?

That's a fantastic idea. Make the fan feel very valued, that would. Would me at least!

The comment about having five minutes was aimed at any winner and in particular giving people who wouldn't want the spotlight the chance to pass up the opportunity if they didn't feel comfortable with taking part.

The second half of my post was aimed more about disabled supporters and how they may be able to take part.

Just seams a simple idea, likely to cost little money, provide an opportunity for season ticket holders to win something and provide a bit of entertainment at half time. I recon with the small win ratio and the short amount of time it would take, you could probably call out 2-3 ticket holders per game as well.

Playing devils advocate here, but the club prefer season ticket holders to people who pay on the day, apart from those who might pay on the day every home game of the season, of which there aren't many I would imagine.

23x500= £11500 About 30 season tickets.

Also, £11,500 cash i worth a lot more to the club than 30 season tickets, and they would much prefer to give away something else apart from cash.

I liked the original idea, giving something away each game to a chosen seat. How about if the seat that is picked is owned by STH he gets a refund for his ticket, or if it is taken by a "pay-on-the-dayer" they win a season ticket?

How about a draw at each home game of STHs and the lucky winner wins their STH for next season FOC.

How about two draws, one for ST holders and one for pay on the day? Still only 46 ST to give away and encourage both those wanting a ST and those that turn up on the day?

Also if a non ST holder won it they'd likely bring a paying mate with them.

How about a free season ticket for whichever seat is drawn in the entire ground. Include the away end which would be a bit of a laugh and, (i'm guessing) they would be unlikely to claim the prize. Also, if the prize is drawn for an empty seat there would clearly be no winner.  You would probably only have about 15 winners a year.

Actually, thats the solution!

A free season ticket to the first person to sit in an empty seat announced over the tannoy.  It would be hilarious seeing 10 people running through the stands to get there first, although not exactly Health and Safety Regs compliant.
