Could be our first home game then, winnable tie at home though to a team two leagues below.  Ties of the round must be PNE V Blackpool and Rotherham v Wednesday.

I thought seeded sides played at home?
no not allways

Then what is the point in seeding?, unless its a North South thing, surely that doesn't require seeding, just a map!

The point is so that the better clubs have a better chance of going through. I think it is too unfair to not only seed the draw but make every seeded team automatically at home. Hardly any chance for lower league clubs to go through at all. As far as I know they alternate the seeds home/away throughout the draw.

I always thought the point was for the smaller clubs to get a better chance of playing a bigger club,I know theres not much difference at this stage but when Premiership and some championship teams are involved it gives the little clubs who get through a high chance of a big club to visit and more gate revenue. But the fact that the bigger clubs get a home tie now makes me wonder if your right?

Happy with the draw and with this been Rochdale's first trip to the Keepmoat, there may just be a few extra away fans coming to boost the crowd too.

Not sure that bit about bigger clubs getting home ties rings true, this is the draw as it was made. in fact I cant see any sort of sequence to it. Ok one pot is seeded one not, but how it is decided who should be drawn first ( if separate pots are involved ) is beyond my tiny grey cells.

16 seeded teams at home
17 seeded teams are away

Normal distribution, or planned by some evil bigwig in FL towers?

All seeded teams are drawn first to be either home or away so after the seeds have been drawn we get something like this:

Doncaster vs ????

???? vs Blackburn

The unseeded teams are then drawn to fill in the gaps.

I make it 16 and 19.

So, a "seed" is drawn, then a letter (H or A). Then the "unseeded" teams drawn to fill in the list.

All becomes clear now. Thank you.

Of the 70 teams there are 34 south and 36 north teams meaning there is never going to be an equal amount of home/away ties but it is usually pretty much equal.

You are all trying to make out it is planned and complicated. They just throw them all up in the air and see which way they land, name up is home, name down is away, I thought everyone knew that?

If the wednesday get a home draw the first league fixture boxing day and the last league fixture think how much money they have been presented just for having representation on the FA. Not a lot changes when it comes to making money this is not the first time Rotherham have been at home to them in the competition or another cup competition and it was televised the last time as well. Yes I do think the worst of our big clubs.
Well they used to be big long ago in the mist of time

Is that why it isn't televised? it'd look f**king daft.

I remember playing them at Spotland and Brighty scoring late on, a whole batch of Rovers fans packed the stand down the side of the pitch and went ballistic when we scored!

Yes it looked bleak for a while and then that goal sorted it for us

I remember further back Rovers scoring and the ball actually hit the stanchion and of course it not being given. May have been 68/9 (as we won the League - and they eventually got promoted for the first time in their history)

They have done it just once more (may be twice) and so we should have nowt to complain about !

Anyone remember the Kerry Dixon era game where we lost to nine men? Like most of that period I have blanked it from my mind.
