f**king DVLA
« on January 06, 2014, 10:49:14 am by bobjimwilly »
This is a rant. You'll probably want to click the back button now.

Received a letter at beginning of December warning me my motorbike was not insured and that I needed to SORN it or insure it or face a penalty. Fair enough I thought, I'll SORN it. So I went to do it online and it gave me the option to SORN from January 1st. Fair enough I thought, so I chose that option and receive confirmation by email soon after (4th Dec).

Opened post today (6th Jan) and I've received a letter, dated December 31st, fining me £100 (£50 if paid before Feb) for not insuring or declaring SORN!!

I'm obviously appealing their penalty and am sending them a copy of their email confirmation they sent me on the 4th, but just put me in a foul mood for day, especially as they sent the letter the day before the SORN comes into force! I hope they don't get f**king cocky and state it didn't come into force until 1st Jan, ONE DAY AFTER they sent the letter  :headbang:

Got a similar one that I'm appealing with Sheffield Council. Changed car recently and put an application in for a parking permit (we're in a controlled parking zone). Meantime, I had to use daily permits (50p each). The permit took 4 weeks to turn up. I ran out of daily permits after 3 weeks and 3 days. Left a note on the dashboard explaining, but got a £70 parking fine.

See whether anybody at the council sees a bit of sense with the appeal.
