Are we safe yet?
« on March 23, 2014, 10:06:20 am by andysly »
It wouldn't surprise me if we look back on the 3rd May and realise yesterday was the day we reached the required number of points to stay up.
I'm not expecting much from the Burnley and Leeds games but a win against either Birmingham or Bolton the following week should realistically do it.  :scarf: :rtid:

We are pretty much safe now. We've got two free hits in these next two games. No reason why we can't beat Leeds, im quietly confident we'll get a win.

We shouldn't have too much problem from this position Andy. If we get relegated from here, it'll be our own fault and we'll deserve it.
Obviously we're not actually safe until it's mathematically impossible for other teams to catch us, but I really can't see the Dingles or Yeovil catching us now.
Two more wins maybe??

Once we get to 48 points I'll relax a bit. Although we might not end up needing as many as that in the final analysis.

To get 48 points

Barnsley need 19 points from 10 games. They have got 8 points from their previous 10 games.

Yeovil. Need 17 from 9. Got 11 from last 9
Millwall. Need 16 from 9. Got 6 from last 9
Charlton. Need 16 from 12. Got 10 from last 12
Birmingham. Need 11 from 9. Got 7 from last 9

So if 48 is going to be the target, 3 of the bottom 5 have got to suddenly have a big improvement in form. I've thought for weeks that that won't happen and it's looking more unlikely by the week.

I think 46 should see us safe, just wondering if dickov will rest a few on Tuesday although hard to change a team on a good run, anything out of next game would be a brucey bonus but think 5 out of leeds,Birmingham and Bolton will do me finishing of with sum sort of result at millwall

I would be very suprised if at least some of the bottom five did not pas 40 points. Sowever I dont see many of them doing it looking at the games they have left. I do think Yeovil are the most likely, they have a toughie, away to Leicester, on Tuesday and then their next three are Barnsley, Blackpool and Charlton. Its those three that are going to decide their season, and probably Barnsley and Charlton's too.

You never quite know with Rovers, but I would like to think that the way we are playing we are all but safe. Lets concentrate on being the best team in S Yorkshire now.

Wilts

It would be grand if we could keep the form going and catch the DeeDahs.

Finishing as the highest SY club for the first time ever would truly put the crown on the post-Richardson resurrection.

What does your form predictor say BST? Can we do it?

Not according to current form Wilts.

Based on last 8 match form, we're going to end up on 52-53 and the DeeDahs on 58-59

Thats the one to keep pushing then, we need to improve our form for a four point swing to catch Weds. Easily doable.

I think that is in the Wendies' hands more than ours Wilts

With our tough run in (Leicester/Burnley/Ipswich away and Derby/Reading at Home scrapping for promotion, the rest scrapping against relegation except only Leeds really with nothing to play for (unless they go into Admin) 12-13 points would be a fantastic return, and a 5-7 points return is not unrealistic if we hit a couple of key injuries or suspensions (Wellens/Brown)

Given other teams' performances, 45-47 points would mean survival chances are high, and survival would be a real success, and a great staring point for next season with a young Manager still learning.

 :scarf:

P.S. I predict we will end with 47-49 points

I also see 48 points being the safety mark.

Where I can see us picking up points:

Burnley - 0
Leeds - 1
Birmingham - 3
Bolton - 3
Ipswich - 0
Derby - 0
Millwall - 3
Reading - 0
Leicester - 0

Takes us to 50 points, more than enough to stay up.

Burnley 0
Leeds 1
Birmingham & Bolton 4pts (not sure which way round)
Ipswich 0
Derby 0
Millwall 3
Reading 1
Leicester 0

Another 9 to come

We've just got to keep performing. To scrape across the line is not good if we want to progress. Getting back in to a rut of losing will do more harm than good. We need to make some of these top teams struggle. 48 to 52 points will be a good return.

I can see us getting something at Burnley on Tuesday, don't ask me why but I am really confident despite them not losing at home this season.

We will win at Leeds. Apparently Millwall battered them yesterday and couldn't score and Leeds scored with there only real chances. We will be safe this time next week.

Given the way they've been going about it Rovers should manage:

Burnley -3
Leeds - 1
Birmingham - 0
Bolton - 0
Ipswich - 0
Derby - 3
Millwall - 0
Reading - 3
Leicester - 3

I think (personally) Yeovil will stop up and so will we! For me (3rd bottom downwards) Charlton, Millwall and Barnsley are the ones that are gonna slip out!

I'd love to see Yeovil stop up but only if they let us beat them next year - it seems ages ago since Ricky got a winner at Huish

Interesting to see our final positions below.  We're now ahead of the SOD/Saunders team and catching up on SOD's last full season in charge.  We'll not quite catch the 08-09 side though I wouldn't think.
