The drop ball that lead to Leicester's goal
« on May 03, 2014, 04:19:54 pm by RobTheRover »
What on earth was the ref thinking?  He just threw it to the Leicester players unchallenged, leaving Brown and Copps fuming, and 15 seconds later a tired Husband had left a dangling leg for the Leicester player to go over with Rovers excellent and disciplined defensive shape pulled all over.

Husband tired from his Tom Daley-esque dive on the left wing?

Probably, yes.  It was as blatant a dive as I've ever seen, on his way down a second before the Leicester player got anywhere near him.  But, he was absolutely blowing out of his backside 5 minutes before their goal.  Stevens should have been on earlier.

Once again on the heart rules the head on this forum. It was a challenge Husband did not need to and hes cost us again. No doubt in my mind the lad will play in the prem but he has to learn. Also Paul Keegan has to go!

But by making a ridiculous attempt at a tackle he gave the referee the opportunity to give a penalty

Don't forget the referee doesn't have a tv replay to look at.
Most of us at the other end of the ground thought it was a penalty.

What I am saying is that Husband was stupid to dangle his leg giving the Leicester player the opportunity to fool the ref.

Yes how we got away with that I don't know. Maybe the Assistant Ref had the sun in his eyes.

Looked a penalty from my view but then again, totally up the other end of the pitch. I also couldn't tell what happened during the drop-ball but it looked weird.

What I did get a good view of was the 'handball' in the first half - I think it would have been very harsh to give it. Maybe on a replay I'll change my mind about all of this.

I'm sorry we have relegated and hope you're straight back up next season.

thanks for the kind words but you didn't relegate us. We did it to ourselves. 12 goals scored away from home with 2 wins. Managing to get beat at home when we was leading and in a comfortable position far too many times.
Thats why we are where we are.

All the more reason for video replays for both sides then. Such decisions change seasons. Anyway, we're down and I'm looking forwards to league one and renewed optimism.

I suppose that is true - if anything was a mitigating factor, you'd probably consider it the Charlton disgrace. Will you keep Dickov, do you think?

I'm not looking forward to next season.

I was looking forward to yet again pitting our wits against massive clubs who believe they have already got the 3pts.

This season up to 1st April was looking like a resounding success.... How the tide changes
